Literanita is terug! Sjaak Kwadraat brengt elke laatste donderdag van de maand weer een nieuwe lading geprogrammeerde muziek, poëzie, spoken word, theater en performance naar de kelder van de nieuwe Anita.

Deze editie met:

Daniel Vis (1988) is dichter en schrijver. Van hem verschenen eerder de poëziebundels Crowdsurfen op laag water, Insect redux (genomineerd voor de J.C. Bloem-poëzieprijs) en Het weefsel. In 2021 ontving hij de tweejaarlijkse Frans Vogel-poëzieprijs voor dichters met een beginnend oeuvre. Zijn debuutroman, Een woelend lichaam, verscheen in september 2022.

Diegedoe is a three headed theatre collective based in Amsterdam. They use puppetry and mime to reframe daily life and give space to our inner worlds.

In een wereld vol pijn en liefde probeert Jooz bruggen te bouwen en momentopnames van het leven te vertalen naar kunst. Als hij daarmee anderen kan inspireren, is de cirkel wat hem betreft rond. De kunstvormen waarin hij zich momenteel het beste kan uiten, zijn muziek, theater en woordkunst.

Ik ben Malcolm, 21 jaar jong en ik maak fouten, ik voel van alles, ik ben niet wat men van mij verwacht en toch ben ik goed zoals ik ben en probeer ik steeds beter te leren en te begrijpen wie ik ben. dit doe ik door woorden te geven aan datgene wat mij pijn heeft gedaan, maar ook datgene wat mij diep heeft geraakt en mij tot leven laat bloeien. In mijn teksten ga ik de confrontatie aan met mezelf en uit ik mijn onbegrip naar de wereld en naar onrecht dat in steeds meer overvloed lijkt plaats te vinden in onze wereld.

Ik hoop dat ik met mijn manier van taal mensen kan verbinden, activeren en ze kan laten realiseren dat ze niet alleen zijn in hun menselijkheid. Eerlijkheid duurt het langst, maar kwetsbaarheid is de sleutel tot het diepste van je hart.

Angie Schaeffer is an enigmatic presence—a muse, a force, a mystical figure whose voice is conveyed through four musicians: Jérémy Michel (modular synthesizer), Ofer Smilansky (synths and effects), Yannick Dupont (drums), and Ruben Orio (percussion and effects). Together, they shape the visions and revelations Angie bestows upon them, translating her burdens and fears into sound.

FEMI

Indie folk artiesten Mail for Sil en Coos organiseren de Friendly Folks Tour. Het folk genre bestaat door het mond tot mond overbrengen van verhalen, toch missen zij als folkbands een scene waar ze in contact kunnen komen met gelijkgezinden. 

Vanaf maart tot en met juni organiseren Mail for Sil en Coos een triple bill tour door Nederland om met lokale artiesten het podium te delen. Na zes succesvolle editie komen ze voor de laatste editie 28 juni naar de Nieuwe Anita met een filmische avond vol verhalen, eigenzinnige melodieën en melancholische deuntjes, deze keer met als derde act FEMI. Tegelijk is deze avond dubbel feest met een single release van Mail for Sil.

Mail for Sils’ nummers zijn kleine flessenpostjes die de luisteraar van lopende catchy pieken naar breekbare dalen brengen. Gaandeweg willen ze het folk genre herontdekken en nieuw leven inblazen. Inspiraties zijn onder andere Laura Marling, Blake Mills, Flyte, en Adrienne Lenker.

FEMI: Met haar eerlijke teksten en gitaar-georiënteerde nummers neemt FEMI je mee in een eclectische wereld van klassieke en moderne alternatieve folk. Geïnspireerd door artiesten als Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Big Thief en Patrick Watson, vertelt ze haar verhalen op een achtergrond van nostalgische en ruwe soundscapes. In haar beeldende teksten deelt ze al haar meest intieme gedachtes: soms verhuld in metaforen en soms zo open en bloot als het staan onder TL-licht. Samen met haar band en producer Jurriaan Sielcken werkt ze op dit moment aan haar debuut-EP ‘Deadline.’

Every week for the last 18 years, Anita has presented a movie night called Cinemanita. Hosted and programmed by the eccentric Jeffrey Babcock you never know what you will see this time, but be sure it is very NOW even though most of his movies are very old.

Je wekelijkse textielkunstclub in De Nieuwe Anita. Met de gedoneerde garen kan iedereen aansluiten en iets maken. Er zijn mensen die beginners kunnen begeleiden en er is gezelligheid voor de gevorderden. Ook hebben we boeken waar je inspiratie uit kunt opdoen. Meedoen is gratis, wol is gratis, naalden en pennen zijn te leen. Neem je vrienden mee.

Met zoveel leuks in het verschiet -het lekkere weer, de lente die begonnen is, en de start van het geweldige televisie programma I Kissed A Girl op Videoland- kunnen wij niet achter blijven.

De volgende editie van Sappho Loves Anita is een feit!

Op vrijdag 4 juli zien we jullie heel graag weer voor een dansje en een sjansje in de Nieuwe Anita. Kaartjes zijn 10,- en zijn inclusief een welkomsdrankje/shotje. De deuren gaan om 20:00 uur open. Vanaf 20:30 uur begint DJ Daan met draaien. Om 23:00 uur neemt Tamore de deks over, tot sluit.

Café Sappho… hét lesbisch café van de jaren nul. Een voor velen legendarische plek. Daar waar liefdes ontstonden, de rij voor de wc absurd lang was, waar je altijd een biertje in je hand had, en waar je op vrijdagavond blind naar binnen kon lopen wetende dat al je vrienden er waren. Een plek die voor velen van ons zo belangrijk is geweest. Café Sappho sloot haar deuren in 2010. Sinds 2020 is De Nieuwe Anita haar nieuwe thuis.  

Wees welkom en nodig al je vrienden uit. Iedereen is welkom. Als je maar SAPPHO minded bent.

De Nieuwe Anita is a place where artists of all colors can live their dream, a relatively small stage for starting or touring musicians, try-outs, stand up comedians, film screenings, literary nights or lectures, we provide a cosy atmosphere and a great audience.

Although we try to keep an alternative profile, we are a well known venue throughout the city and beyond.

The fact that more and more little places like this end up closing makes it even more relevant to stay active and creative.

We started Nieuwe Anita basically in 2001, with literally underground parties in the back area. In 2005 we got the chance to rent the front bar, this made it possible to organise even more events, big and small, and more frequently.

The goal of Anita is to be a safe haven for all, musicians, artists, but also visitors of all nationalities and genders.
