Gabbers Waren We is an overwhelming, out-of-control ride combining a classic play, a dance performance and a gabber-rave. For 90 minutes long, the audience is submerged in the gabber scene of the early nineties. A truly Dutch subculture that shaped generations and nowadays is bigger than ever. Gabbers Waren We is a show about friendship and becoming who you want to be – to a 160 bpm soundtrack. The Energiehal in Rotterdam, somewhere in the early nineties. Thousands of gabbers come together to rave till dawn. There, Alex, Moon and Ben become best friends. They feel invincible in a haze of XTC, sweat and 160 bpm. Until they lose themselves and each other. Twenty-five years later Alex and Moon are reunited by fate. One night long, they are confronted with their past and the choices that made them who they are, to find what they once lost. Other performances of this show take place on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th October. This show also ties in with the photo exhibition "Eva. Hate Me, Love Me" by Eva Meylink at Melkweg Expo.
