How did the audience react at the time? The answer: not so good. In 1985, One, Two, Three was re-released in Berlin and has been a hit there ever since. Over time, it has gained the status of a true cult film. James Cagney, a major star of the thirties and forties, plays a persistent Coca Cola executive in West Berlin, who sets his sights across the iron curtain to 'Coca-colonize' the Soviet Union. This classic by Billy Wilder was never nominated for an Oscar, unlike his other works, but has all the right ingredients: a brisk and steady pace, constant jokes, and memorable one-liners. The film uses the politics of the Cold War as a source of satire, and becomes even more interesting when you know that the Berlin Wall was being built during filming.
