Kirsty Fletcher, a South African artist now living in the Netherlands works with single-use and waste products. Her current body of work involves advertising material delivered to most Dutch households on a weekly basis. By utilizing something so common, issues such as over-abundance and excess consumption which is endemic to the first world are explored.

Inspired by artists such as El Anatsui and Moffat Takadiwa, Kirsty’s use of material holds the message that the work conveys. The labour intensive process alludes to the hidden energy and labour costs that we are unaware of. The bright, happy colours used are a metaphor for promises made by advertising and marketing campaigns.

It is surprisingly filled with such massive objects as stars, galaxy clusters and cosmic filaments, and also contains the smallest building blocks, such as cells, atoms, molecules and quarks. Lena believes that the magic of our universe can be conveyed through macro photography. She has a passion for creating visual narratives that convey both known and unknown phenomena, blending the familiar with the mysterious aspects that humanity has already become aware of and those that await our discovery. Exploring her images, you will discover a fusion of the familiar and the alien, revealing the fullness of our understanding and beyond, where hidden mysterious, and sometimes unnerving phenomena of the universe.. 16, 17 and 18 November from 16:00h - 18:00

Thijs’ sculptures are mostly quite organic and abstract. They invite the viewer to touch or even caress them. He loves to bring out the beauty of the stone by simplifying shapes as much as possible with few or no details, less is more.
Some of his sculptures are carefully planned and designed, though quite often the shape ‘just appears’ naturally while he is hammering away.
He believes sculpting is a craft and should take time and effort. That is why even his pieces in marble and Belgian hard stone are entirely made by hand, without mechanical equipment.
