1. What the WhatsApp integration does
With the WhatsApp integration, you can:
Collect WhatsApp opt-ins from guests at key moments
See who has opted in inside your Audience
Send targeted WhatsApp updates for important tickets, quests and event changes
You do not have to configure forms or fields yourself. Once WhatsApp is active, BASH automatically adds the right checkboxes in the right places.
💡 Why use WhatsApp instead of email?
WhatsApp is perfect for time-sensitive, high-value updates. Open rates are typically far higher than for email, so it works best for things like early access, last-minute tickets, and critical event changes rather than general newsletters.
2. Where to find the WhatsApp integration
You manage everything in your organisation settings:
Go to your BASH Dashboard.
Navigate to Settings → WhatsApp integration.
Click Set up.
From there, you can:
Start the setup for the first time
See the current status
Deactivate the integration later if needed
You do not need a WhatsApp account before you start. You can create one inside the setup flow.
⚠️ Credit card required
WhatsApp will not activate messaging until a valid credit card is linked in their setup. BASH does not add any extra fee on top of what WhatsApp charges.
3. Where guests can opt in for WhatsApp
Once the integration is Active, BASH automatically adds WhatsApp as an opt-in channel in four places:
Pre-register forms
When guests preregister for an event, they can opt in to receive WhatsApp updates about it.
Subscribe forms on your organiser site
Visitors can subscribe to your organiser updates and choose WhatsApp as one of their channels.
Ticket checkout
At checkout, guests see a WhatsApp checkbox alongside other communication options.
Only guests who tick the box are treated as opted in.
Quest acceptance
When guests accept a quest, they can opt in to receive WhatsApp updates related to that quest and its rewards.
All opt-ins are stored on the guest profile in Audience, so you always see who has consented to WhatsApp.
✅ Consent and opt out
Guests can opt out at any time using WhatsApp’s standard opt-out flow. Once they do, you can no longer message them on WhatsApp via BASH.
4. Sending WhatsApp updates
When your integration is Active, and you have opted-in guests in your Audience, you can start sending.
Supported use cases:
Private ticket access
Let selected guests know they now have access to a private ticket.
New quests
Invite Social Leaders or specific segments to a new quest and send reminders while it runs.
Open invites
Share a link guests can use to bring friends or claim +1s.
Event updates
Time changes, venue changes, doors closing soon, last tickets and any critical information.
Key rules:
You can only send messages to guests who have explicitly opted in for WhatsApp.
Segments and filters in Audience still apply, so you can be as precise as you like.
Messages are delivered via your connected WhatsApp account, not from BASH.
5. Billing
WhatsApp bills all message costs to the credit card you set up in WhatsApp.
BASH does not charge an additional fee per WhatsApp message.
Your usual BASH fees for tickets and features remain separate.
