Over the past decade, Dekmantel Festival has become synonymous with electronic music’s most adventurous realms. While timeless sounds remain central, its multidisciplinary program is devoted to cutting-edge artists and adventurous sounds. Dekmantel Festival’s 11th edition takes place from July 30 to August 3, with over 150 acts representing the global electronic music expanse—from the festival grounds at the Amsterdamse Bos to the opening concert at Oude Kerk and the venues along the Amsterdam river Het IJ. The signature Thursday program on July 31st includes a special series of live performances and concerts at Muziekgebouw, Bimhuis, Parallel, Shelter and EYE Filmmuseum. 

This year’s Aan Het IJ program brings British electronic pioneers Leftfield, who are joined on the Muziekgebouw concert hall bill by the equally influential and idiosyncratic dub duo The Orb. Next door, at Bimhuis, acclaimed British DJ/producer James Holden and Polish multi-instrumentalist Wacław Zimpel will take the stage alongside forward-thinking performers like Herbert & Momoko, Young Marco & John Moods, and Polygonia, who will present a live rendition of her forthcoming ‘Dream Horizons’ album. On the other side of the river, Parallel will host exclusive club shows by, among others, Danish avant-pop star Erika de Casier and Irish-Chilean experimentalist Sega Bodega. In the basement of Shelter, the big Thursday adventure wraps up with performances by Lenxi, Simo Cell & Abdullah Miniawy, Skee Mask, and more. 

During the day, a short walk away at Eye Filmmuseum, the legendary Jeff Mills will present an extended live score for Fritz Lang’s 1927 expressionist masterpiece Metropolis. Step into the world of Trans Sahara Electro, where electronic beats intertwine with North African, Eastern, and Arabic sounds to create a hypnotic, multidimensional live experience. Under the artistic direction of Efe Erdem (aka DeDeXgrande), this groundbreaking project travels across festivals and stages in the Netherlands and beyond.

During the performance, Efe leads with live electronics, composing and improvising in real time, all while showcasing his virtuosic trombone playing. He is joined on stage by musicians from the Marmoucha Orchestra and special guest Aziz Ozouss, who add vibrant layers with vocals, percussion, guitar, and traditional North African instruments.

The musical concept draws inspiration from Efe’s deep fascination with the historical Trans-Saharan trade route, stretching from Casablanca to Cairo. While this ancient route fostered cultural exchange and diversity, it also carries a dark legacy—marked by the brutal history of the trans-Saharan slave trade. This duality—cultural richness and historical pain—echoes through the music, expressed through the unique interpretations of each musician.

Blending North African grooves, world music, and electronic rhythms, the Marmoucha Orchestra delivers a sizzling, innovative sound that’s as thought-provoking as it is danceable. Visual projections further enhance the experience, immersing the audience in a sensory journey through North African cultures. The result is a powerful fusion of music, imagery, and social consciousness—tackling themes like climate change and sustainability with both urgency and artistry.

After the live set of Trans Sahara Electro, the night transitions seamlessly into a vibrant club experience. Arabella Memdouh—named one of 3voor12’s “DJs to watch” in 2024—opens with a high-energy set that blends Arabic influences, psychedelic grooves, and electronic beats. She’s followed by Darno, known for his signature sound from The Gardens of Babylon and Café De Anatolia. Together, they’ll keep the energy high and the dance floor alive for an unforgettable, immersive club night.

Notion, a key figure in the UK dance scene, has cemented his status with hits like Forwards and a viral remix of Chrystal’s The Days. With 13 million monthly Spotify listeners, he’s also behind the successful Dance Dubs project and tour, showcasing exclusive live edits and bootlegs. His recent DJ Mag HQ set premiered new music, further energizing his fanbase. On tour, Notion continues to thrive, selling out shows across the US and Canada and performing at major festivals like Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Hard Summer. Upcoming appearances include Coachella, Boiler Room Festival, and Parklife. Catch his Amsterdam debut at Parallel on Saturday, October 4th — support TBA.

CHAMOS

After their sold-out headline show in March, DJ collective CHAMOS returns to Parallel on October 22 for a special show as part of Amsterdam Dance Event.

Known for their genre-spanning DJ sets that seamlessly blend Southwest Asian influences, bass, and percussion, CHAMOS truly embody their name—meaning "friends"—as they bring together diverse sounds and audiences. With members from Kurdish and Dutch backgrounds, their music effortlessly fuses traditional and electronic elements. Building on the success of their club edits series, which has garnered attention from DJs and artists alike, they have cultivated an organic and ever-growing fanbase.

Islandman

Islandman are a live electro-acoustic trio from Turkey, consisting of Tolga Böyük, Eralp Güven and Erdem Başer. Their performances are a cross-cultural collection of shamanic rhythms, mellow electronic structures, dance beats and psychedelic guitar riffs, combining Turkish psychedelia and African roots music with the electric universe.

Islandman return this October for ADE following their fifth studio album release; Island5. Which marks their most refined and detailed work yet. Reflecting Istanbul's layered spirit, the album blends ambient textures, modal scales, and ceremonial percussions with a deeper, anaolog synths-driven sound. Defining a new realm they call Neo-Turkish Psychedelia.

PARDON links up with the bootleg banditz to celebrate 5 years of ec2a during Amsterdam Dance Event… and trust us, this one's for the heads.  

From dubplate delivery service to certified scene-shakers, ec2a has been holding it down for half a decade. Rewiring the UK underground with white-label bootlegs, pirate radio flavour, and warehouse-weight bangers. It’s only right we go full throttle with ‘em to toast the occasion proper.  

Touching down for this one: Bakey, one of the most in-demand UKG selectors of the moment; Dr Dubplate B2B Milion, bringing dubplate pressure from the source; Lala, known for her razor-tight blends and heavyweight club workouts; and our very own EYCEE, repping the Dutch underground with a sound that’s all killer, no filler. Introducing KÒRÁ: A Fusion of Caribbean and African Diaspora Sounds

Tera Kòrá has been making waves with a unique sound that draws on his Caribbean roots and African Diaspora music. By infusing these with elements of soul and electronic beats, he's creating a unique, eclectic forward-thinking sound.

In 2020, Tera Kòrá released "The Legend of Kòrá", a special project featuring his first remixes and edits. This project has since earned cosigns from genre-pushing artists like Amaarae & Konshens, and garnered support from internationally acclaimed icons such as Major Lazer and Jarreau Vandal.

Now, with the release of the third volume of "The Legend of Kòrá" the time has come to hit the club scene. On April 12th, alongside the likes of none other than Anais B, local hero Styn and double trouble AK Soundsystem , we proudly present  “KÒRÁ” – a night where the rhythms of the Caribbean and African Diaspora meet the grooves of soul and electronic music.
