Pål/Secam is a Dutch and French DJ duo known for their Pan-Amafropean parties in Amsterdam. According to Atze de Vrieze (3voor12), “Pan-Amafropeans is a complex word, but if you let it linger on your tongue for a moment before swallowing, you’ll taste exactly what flavors are blended within: a mix of grooves from around the world, not haphazardly thrown together but expertly fused.”

Every Sunday morning you can enjoy yoga with a view of the water at Pllek! The dynamic lessons are held outside on a wooden deck – during summer days – next to the restaurant. There is a buildup from meditation to asanas, chanting and holding on or letting go.

Each lesson is a journey inward with attention to breathwork, respecting your physical limits and finding relaxation and peace of mind in all poses. The lessons are suited for both beginners and more experienced yogi’s as teacher Bianka makes sure that everyone gets the guidance they need during the session.

Yoga mats, wooden blocks and blankets are present, bringing your own yoga mat is allowed!

YOGA WITH A VIEW | VINYASA FLOW

Ruige Rakkers (literally translated as Rough Rascals) is THE Sunday activity on the wharf for everyone between 4 and 12 years old! Every week between 13:00 – 16:00 you can just walk in and join a different program. This week: De Liedjestovenaar (The Song Magician!)

De Liedjestovenaar sings well-known and self-made children’s songs. She plays on her guitar or ukulele and children can play along on little instruments, sing their hearts out or dance freely. During this musical Sunday afternoon the focus lays on dynamics, tempo, pitch, rhythm and improvisation. The doors are open for walk-ins, there will be two workshops of 30 minutes.

Vijay Krishna

Kirtan, or devotional chanting is an ancient Indian practice. Bhakti, is a path into the heart. Together this night we will create a doorway to heaven and it is sure that the entire city will benefit from it. In a temple-like venue with carpets and cushions on the floor you are invited to settle in and get to a peaceful place in your heart. You might want to offer a flower to the altar or drop your sacred item to get it charged with ecstatic vibrations . Our minds will be swept empty while repeating the holy names and this will brings us to the core of our heart.

Vijay Krishna, band leader of KIRTANIYAS is a devotional kirtan singer, multi instrumentalist, yoga philosopher and producer. He grew up in a Vedic culture of song, dance, philosophy and devotion in the UK, India and  travelled many countries together with his talented wife Sarasvati. Vijay Krsna composes phenomenal hybrids of traditional Sanskrit mantras and kirtan with cross-cultural musical influences.

Citralekha dasi is a dedicated practitioner of bhakti yoga and the founder of Vedic Essence – a school for Vedic and yogic philosophy. Through her teachings, she shares wisdom on topics such as life purpose, the cycle of karma, the yoga path, self-realization, and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. She also offers yoga classes where she gently guides students toward deeper layers of their being – from body to soul.

Her poetry collection, “Surrender of the Heart” , originated during a world journey through many spiritual traditions in search of deeper meaning in life. That quest led her to the path of bhakti yoga, where she found profound purpose through devotion and connection with God, Krishna.

A central part of the bhakti yoga tradition is mantra chanting – sharing transcendental sound vibrations to cleanse the heart and mind and reconnect with one’s soul and God. With her harmonium and mrdanga, Citralekha travels to various places across and beyond Europe, offering mantra concerts and wisdom with the intention to inspire and enrich others on their spiritual path.

Brian S. is a renowned DJ in the Amsterdam house scene and started DJing at the famous club IT. He has previously performed at Club Air, RoXY, Jimmy Woo, and Paradiso. Brian S. has also played internationally in cities such as Cannes, Porto, New York, Barcelona, and at festivals like Mysteryland, Dance Valley, and the Love Parade in Berlin.

For six years, Brian S. hosted the popular club night RUSH at Escape and collaborated with international artists including Fedde Le Grand, Phatts & Small, Sven Väth, and many others.

Martien V. (Martien Verheyden) was born and raised in Amsterdam. Her life is one long musical journey. She grew up with classical music: as a child, she played piano and drums. Soon, she began exploring different music styles and developed a great passion for electronic music in general, and house music in particular. She has a strong preference for the “Oldskool sound” of Detroit and Chicago: House & Deephouse. Martien says she was very fortunate to experience and be part of the early house music scene in Amsterdam, in clubs like Roxy and Mazzo. Her deep passion for house music was born there. Although Martien prefers spinning underground deephouse and house, she also enjoys playing disco, soul, funk, hip-hop, and jazz. She does not play “hits,” “requests,” or commercial music.

Every Tuesday evening – ’til the end of September – we show the most impressive, moving and controversial movies on our city beach on the NDSM-wharf. Elke zondagochtend kun je bij Pllek genieten van Yoga met uitzicht over het IJ! De lessen worden gegeven op het strand (bij slecht weer in de zaal) naast het restaurant en zijn dynamisch en gevarieerd. Ze bouwen op van een meditatie naar het uitoefenen van verschillende asanas, chanting en spelen tussen het vasthouden en loslaten.

Iedere les is een reis naar binnen met veel aandacht voor de ademhaling, het respecteren van je fysieke grenzen en het vinden van ontspanning en ‘peace of mind ‘  in alle houdingen. De lessen zijn geschikt voor beginners en gevorderden, docente Bianka zorgt er voor dat iedereen passende begeleiding ontvangt naar zijn of haar behoeften.

Er zijn yogamatjes, blokken en fleeces aanwezig, een eigen yogamatje meenemen mag altijd!
