At the end of the 19th century, with the construction of Kasteel de Haar, the original village of Haarzuilens, which was next to the castle, was moved to its current location. The new layout for the village was built around a village green. To replace an old farm that functioned as an inn and town hall but was also demolished during the castle construction, t' Wapen van Haarzuylen on the Brink was built around 1898.

This inn and council chamber was built on behalf of the baron according to a design by architect van Straaten and J. Cuypers. The latter was also responsible for the construction of the current Kasteel de Haar.
