van 15.30 uur tot 17.00 uur in de Paradijsvogeltuin (https://paradijsvogeltuin.nl/) met een Open Podium. Hieraan doen oa Frida van Til, Bart Adjudant en nog tien andere dichters mee.

Dichter bij de Oosterpark Wijk wordt georganiseerd door werkgroep Oosterpark Nooit Saai (ONS)  in samenwerking met de Oosterkerk en de Paradijsvogeltuin. Het is financieel mogelijk gemaakt door de Bewonersorganisatie (BO)

In de met kaarslicht verlichte Westerkerk klinken zijn populairste orgelwerken.

Bach by Candlelight - Bachnachtconcert

273 jaar geleden overleed Johann Sebastian Bach op 28 juli 1750. Reden genoeg om een jaarlijks Bachconcert te organiseren op zijn sterfdag. Evan Bogerd, organist van de Westerkerk Amsterdam, brengt op 28 juli een ode aan Bach met zijn meest populaire orgelwerken.

Het grote Duyschot (1686) orgel is 1 jaar jonger dan Bach. Een voorbeeld van Hollandse barok. Het leent zich daarom ook uitstekend voor de orgelwerken van Bach. De bijzondere akoestiek van de Westerkerk maakt het helemaal af!

Aan het begin van de nacht valt het licht in de Westerkerk nog spaarzaam naar binnen door de enorme raampartijen. De kroonluchters met echte kaarsen branden voor een echt sfeervol concert!

Where There Is Light

The need to recalibrate, reflect, and center mental wellness after uncertain years drove artist Tamara Shogaolu to develop WHERE THERE IS LIGHT. Inspired by the practice of forest bathing and by the Panamanian rainforest, WHERE THERE IS LIGHT is an interactive installation that merges mental wellness with nature through technology by allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a rainforest.

Through WHERE THERE IS LIGHT we hope to create a space where we can surrender to calmness and focus on our senses as a way to be present in the moment without the grief of what was and the fear of what could have been.

Visitors will be able to explore the rainforest lidar data projections at their own pace and interact with the space through movement and breath with the forest reacting to their movements and breathing. The visuals will be paired with a sound installation of sound recording in the rainforest in Panama over a 24hr cycle. The visuals and sounds will be constantly changing from day to night, providing visitors a different experience depending on the time of day of their visit. The installation will run over the course of five days at the central ADE hub and iconic church Westerkerk. This experience will be free and open to the public with the ultimate hope of motivating all of us to take a moment during our days to connect with nature and ultimately protect the sacred spaces that are rainforests.

The installation is commissioned by Amsterdam Dance Event.

The Westerkerk (English: Western Church) is a Reformed church within Dutch Protestant Calvinism in central Amsterdam. It lies in the most western part of the Grachtengordel neighborhood (Centrum borough), next to the Jordaan, between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht.

The church is famous for many reasons, including being the burial ground of world famous painter Rembrandt van Rijn, hosting the royal wedding of former-queen Beatrix and it's iconic tower.
