DB Caulfield is the solo project of Amsterdam-based songwriter Teun Putker (e.a. Queen’s Pleasure). After a hiatus spent accumulating ideas as voice memos, Teun can finally bring his indie folk compositions to life. While previous work featured intricate arrangements and metaphorical lyrics, D.B. Caulfield now offers a more direct approach—just a voice and acoustic guitar exploring the complexities of everyday existence. Though his songs appear to chronicle the lives of invented characters, they serve as vehicles for Teuns own emotional landscape. Through these careful constructions, he examines his personal struggles with isolation, addiction and lost love.

Rodeo Radio Born from a mutual love of each others lyrical confession, Silke Weeber and Jens Dortmans have decided to combine musical powers in a new formation called Rodeo Radio. With a deep connection to Country, Folk and Americana, the duo combines in these traditions with contemporary melancholy and sincerity.

Rubin Carter is the solo project of Sal Rubinstein (i.a. Queen’s Pleasure). Although a drummer at heart, Sal always felt a spark within him that pushed him to write songs. For years, he would sit on the edge of his bed, hunched over simple campfire chords that no one was allowed to hear. Once he felt ready to share his work, he gathered some of his closest friends to form a new band.

De nieuwe muziek van Naive Set werd door de Volkskrant omschreven als ‘heldere jangle-gitaarpop van zuiver kristal’. Hun vierde album, In Air Quotes (AT EASE), staat er vol mee. Voordat ze een aantal dagen op tour gaan met de Canadezen van Nap Eyes, speelt de Amsterdamse band op hun – naar eigen zeggen – favoriete podium, De Nieuwe Anita natuurlijk!

Om de avond in te luiden speelt Free Dust, een nieuw project van de meest begeerde gitarist van NL: Nouveau Vélo’s Niek Leenders. Hun muziek doet denken aan de golf van indiebands uit het Nieuw-Zeelandse Dunedin (bijvoorbeeld The Clean), maar ze komen uit het Brabantse Mariahout. Hun eerste plaat komt binnenkort uit bij Subroutine Records.

Na afloop kan er gedanst worden op de muziek van DJ Jasper Verhulst.

New York Jazz Club brings the irresistible vibe of the Big Apple to Amsterdam!

Line-up: Jesse van Ruller Trio, The Hi-Stakes and Sam Ghezzi Trio.

Amsterdam has a long history as one of the European capitals of Jazz, next to Paris, Copenhagen and London. Many American legends such as Chet Baker, Ben Webster or Johnny Griffin spent a significant amount of time in the Netherlands. Influenced and schooled by these grandmasters there is a whole generation of Dutch legends such as Rita Reys, Pim and his brother Ruud Jacobs, John Engels or Han Bennink that have been passing on the knowledge to future generations of jazz musicians. While not always very visible to the public eye, this music has always been very alive in Amsterdam.

Jesse van Ruller Trio
Jesse van Ruller is known to be one of the best contemporary jazz guitarists on the scene today. His unique sound, virtuoso technique and beautiful compositions are praised around the globe. In 1995 he won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Award in Washington . The jury, consisting of Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Jim Hall, Pat Martino and Mark Whitfield, was of the opinion that Jesse is one of the most promising talents of his time. In the same year he graduated summa cum laude from the Hilversum Conservatory, where he studied with Wim Overgaauw. Since then he has collaborated with many of the world’s leading musicians. He was nominated for the Dutch Bird and Edison Awards several times and to date has released 11 albums as a leader or co-leader. Jesse leads his own trio in which he continues to display his impressive talents as a jazz guitarist as well as a composer. In this classic guitar-bass-drums setting he unerringly combines all chords and melodies on his semi-acoustic jazz guitar; tradition, expertise and innovation un-insistently go
hand in hand.

The Hi-Stakes
The Hi-Stakes, featuring their iconic frontman Sam Ghezzi, are a Rhythm & Blues quintet from Amsterdam. The best dressed band of the Netherlands have made a name for themselves with their very own, unique sound, somewhere in between Blues, Rock’n Roll, Jazz and Boogaloo. Their songs are catchy, their sound is thick, their beat is infectious and saying that their live show is irresistible might even be a bit of an understatement.

Sam Ghezzi Trio
New York Jazz Club celebrates the temporary homecoming of Sam Ghezzi, frontman of both The Hi-Stakes and Roaring Cats and an important pillar of the Amsterdam jazz scene for the past seven years, who recently moved to Paris. With his trio, Sam pays tribute to his greatest heroes in between Jazz and blues: Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Percy Mayfield.

Je wekelijkse textielkunstclub in De Nieuwe Anita. Met de gedoneerde garen kan iedereen aansluiten en iets maken. Er zijn mensen die beginners kunnen begeleiden en er is gezelligheid voor de gevorderden. Ook hebben we boeken waar je inspiratie uit kunt opdoen. Meedoen is gratis, wol is gratis, naalden en pennen zijn te leen. Neem je vrienden mee.

Met: Roelroel, levi boon en Giant Julie!

Giant Julie is a project of Russian-born producer and songwriter Yulya Divakova. Their songs are born through time, different soundscapes are strung together with a story. Their lyrics center grief, lonesomeness, and wild hope.

With her music Levi Boon crafts an atmosphere where the mundane feels magical. Her songs breathe an endless wave of nostalgia, where memories and emotions are woven into melodies that hit you right away. Her music is a mirror of her own life but at the same time a blank canvas for listeners to project their own stories on. Is it pure, honest with no finery.

Roel van der Meulen (RoelRoel) is a musician based in Amsterdam. His room is home to a family of thrifted sound equipment, keyboards, and guitars — each of a different size, a different sound, carrying different quirks he has fallen in love with. His first two albums, I’ll Be Fine (2020) and Sea Life (2022), blend mischievous lo-fi drums with tender acoustic instrumentation. In his upcoming album, he focuses on the guitar as the base of a warm, bittersweet bath. Deceptively simple, RoelRoel’s sound is close to the ear, a playful whisper to complex feelings. Each song is a call to attend to the small things we overlook everyday.

De Nieuwe Anita is a place where artists of all colors can live their dream, a relatively small stage for starting or touring musicians, try-outs, stand up comedians, film screenings, literary nights or lectures, we provide a cosy atmosphere and a great audience.

Although we try to keep an alternative profile, we are a well known venue throughout the city and beyond.

The fact that more and more little places like this end up closing makes it even more relevant to stay active and creative.

We started Nieuwe Anita basically in 2001, with literally underground parties in the back area. In 2005 we got the chance to rent the front bar, this made it possible to organise even more events, big and small, and more frequently.

The goal of Anita is to be a safe haven for all, musicians, artists, but also visitors of all nationalities and genders.
