Every Friday and Saturday we invite our favourite selectors to Canvas. Ascent to the seventh floor and enjoy a night with friends, food, drinks and good music!

This Friday Canvas will be turned into the fictional island of the Sentinelese, where a tropical wave of musical charm awaits us. Because on Sentinel Island, the inhabitants seem to have eccentric party rituals, channeling pulsating percussive rhythms with ecstatic disco chants. If you want to know what that looks like, you’ll have to dock at Sentinel Island this Friday. Someone like Barbara Boeing or San Soda likes to go there too. For the entire evening, Sentinel Island Disco, known for their energetic performances, will fill the venue with a blend of sounds from the African diaspora, captivating disco, and infectious house music. With sets at festivals like Lowlands and Down The Rabbit Hole, and in local hotspots like the Schietclub, they are well experienced to take you on a journey through a night of warmth, dance, and unexpected musical twists.

Jerrau is one of the trailblazers representing the contemporary wave of DJs from Amsterdam and beyond. Flagrantly knocking down barriers in the industry by maneuvering between events that are differentiated by genres, the Surinamese-Dutch DJ consolidates his broad interest and inexhaustible curiosity in various music ranging between break and broken beats, bass-heavy club music, and soulful melodies. Badplaats Sessions bring together a couple of hot tubs and a little sauna, cold drinks, live performances by a variety of artists, and an amazing view.

Programme:
Astronaut is the musical project of songwriter, daydreamer and amateur philosopher Pelle Bast. Astronaut’s songs are uncompromising and seek naivety in its best form. With humor and lightness grand themes such as sex, love and the cosmos are sung about, questioned and mocked. The Dutch texts testify to philosophical depth, delivered with Achterhoekse down-to-earthness.

Live you never know what will happen because there is no script. But when Pelle brings his band along, you are assured of contrasts between fragile moments versus energetic drums and trumpet as an ear-catcher to blow your mind into summer!

Pride Photo presents a specially made video installation that showcases photography work exhibited by Pride Photo from 2010 – 2024. By combining work from the archive, documentary film maker Sophia de Hoog, created a film installation that deals with the concept ‘INSIDE/OUTSIDE’. Queer history, as well as nightlife, deals a lot with the hidden: creating a world in which one can be visible and safe, in order to be free. De Hoog took this concept to make a slide show showcasing a numerous amount of archival work.

Het Londonse O. is een duo bestaande uit baritonsaxofonist Joe Henwood en drummer Tash Keary. Samen maken ze ingewikkelde jazzlijnen, sludgy doom metal en instrumentalen met een hoog octaangehalte. Hun debuut-EP 'SLICE' werd enthousiast ontvangen door onder meer DIY, NME, Dork en Rough Trade. Hun nieuwste single 'Green Shirt' borduurt rustig verder op het constant evoluerende, epifanische geluid van de twee. Zo omschrijft de band de single zelf als ''a short rock/metal rinse out'' en vertellen ze vervolgens dat het vernoemd is naar Tash's favoriete overhemd, welke een aantal keer kwijtraakte en vervolgens is opgegeten door een hond. Voor wie de muziek van O. reeds kent, klinkt zo'n verhaal niet als een verrassing in de oren.
