This session will be held in Portuguese as a special exception.

"Nina Goes to Brazil" is a joyful celebration of Brazil's rich and diverse culture.  
Through the eyes of Nina and her grandmother Teresa, young readers are taken on a journey across ten cities in all five regions of Brazil.

Written by Renata Formoso, the story introduces children to uniquely Brazilian words and expressions — complete with a mini glossary to deepen their learning. The book also features a final section highlighting iconic places Nina visits, including Avenida Paulista, Corcovado, Marajó Island, Palácio da Alvorada, and Pelourinho.

Carolina Coroa's vibrant illustrations bring to life Brazil's landscapes and Nina's adventures, full of affection and discovery. A colorful map at the end of the book helps children follow Nina's journey city by city.


👩‍💼 About the Author

Renata Formoso is a Brazilian writer, communicator, and lifelong lover of the Portuguese language. Like Nina, she was once a dancer, and followed her dreams all the way to London — where she became the mother of Noah, her greatest inspiration to write.

Her first book, I Also Speak Portuguese, was published in 2020, introducing the character Nina to young readers.

Zorzal is a son huasteco trio (mexican folklore music from the northeast region of Mexico called Huasteca) leaded by César Puente.  
The so called Son Huasteco or Huapango, is warm and joyful music, played and sang by the three huapangueros: César Puente on jarana (5 strings guitar), Fátima Hernández on the Violin and Pablo Suaste on Guitarra Huapanguera (8 strings guitar).

The trio combines poetry, improvisation and dance into colorful songs.

A fresh proposal that fuses jazz with Caribbean and Latin American influences, led by the talented pianist Fito Morales, from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
Rodolfo “Fito” Morales is a pianist based in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, who has been enchanting audiences with his unique blend of Latin American and jazz music since 2005. With an innate improvisational talent and a vast knowledge of jazz vocabulary, Fito has established himself as a prominent figure in the local music scene.
His musical style is heavily influenced by a myriad of genres from Latin America, which he blends seamlessly with his jazz roots. The sound palette draws inspiration from Romanticism and Expressionism, creating a contrast with the rhythmic diversity found in the Caribbean islands. This combination results in a musical experience that is both harmonious and dynamic.

Fito’s talent as a pianist and composer has earned him recognition from both local and international audiences. He has been invited to perform in festivals such as the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival and Festival Chile Jazz por la paz, where he has shared the stage with renowned musicians from all over the world.

The newly formed trio consisted of the talented Pato Banda, hailing from classical music playing the upright bass, as well as the exceptional Chilean drummer Pablo Sáez.

Agda is one of the great representatives of the current Agreste scene in Pernambuco. She is a daughter of Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, a textile town that receives people from all over the state on a daily basis for trade and commerce.
Juliano Holanda is one of the most established names in the Zona da Mata Norte. He was born in Goiana, the gateway to the state via Paraiba. A border town, it is the cradle of several essential cultural manifestations, such as rural maracatu and the seahorse.

From the meeting of the two comes this show based on the trova and the word, the starting point and primordial basis of their art. Between the harsh dryness and the wetness of the forest, the artists seek the intersection of their poetic gazes. Certainly a powerful synthesis of the Pernambuco countryside to point to another possibility of Brazil, far removed from folklore and stereotypes.

The show is a mix of their repertoire, favouring songs written in partnership and also featuring texts written by the duo. Given their extensive stage experience and artistic intimacy, it is worth highlighting the dense scenic background and the inclusion of moments for improvisation and interaction with the audience, transforming the performance into a dynamic experience that can be adapted to the most varied of spaces.

Agda é uma das grandes representantes do atual cenário do Agreste pernambucano. Filha de Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, cidade têxtil e lugar que recebe diariamente pessoas de todo o Estado, para o comércio e a troca.

Juliano Holanda é um dos nomes mais sedimentados da Zona da Mata Norte. Natural de Goiana, porta de entrada do Estado pela paraíba. Cidade fronteira, berço de diversas manifestações culturais essenciais, como o maracatu rural e o cavalo-marinho.

Do encontro dos dois nasce esse espetáculo baseado na trova e na palavra, ponto de partida e base primordial da arte de ambos. Entre a secura agreste e o charco molhado da Mata, os artistas buscam a intersecção dos olhares poéticos. Certamente uma síntese poderosa do interior pernambucano para apontar uma outra possibilidade de Brasil, distante de folclorismos e estereótipos.

O show é uma mescla do repertório de ambos, privilegiando as canções escritas em parceria e ainda com a costura de textos também da lavra da dupla. Dada a larga experiência de palco e intimidade artística, cabe ressaltar a densa bagagem cênica e a inclusão de momentos para o improviso e a interação com público, transformando a apresentação numa experiência dinâmica e adaptável aos mais variados espaços

Beatriz is een jonge, energieke Latin Jazz-band met roots in Cuba, Spanje en Nederland. Vanuit Rotterdam brengen ze een frisse mix van traditionele Cubaanse stijlen zoals Son Montuno en Cha Cha-Cha, gecombineerd met pittige Latin Jazz.

De groep staat onder leiding van de Cubaanse pianiste Laura Beatriz Argudin en staat bekend om hun opzwepende liveshows – alsof je even in het hart van Havana belandt.  
Beatriz werkte samen met artiesten als Philip Lassiter, Sly5thAve, Peruchin en Rodney Barreto, en stond op grote festivals in Colombia zoals Barranquijazz, Pasto Jazz en Cali Jazz. In 2024 verscheen hun debuut-EP Momentos, waarmee ze hun unieke sound verder op de kaart zetten.

Beatriz is a young, energetic Latin Jazz band with roots in Cuba, Spain, and the Netherlands. Based in Rotterdam, they bring a fresh mix of traditional Cuban styles such as Son Montuno and Cha Cha-Cha, blended with spicy Latin Jazz.

The group is led by Cuban pianist Laura Beatriz Argudin and is known for their electrifying live shows, as if you’ve been transported right into the heart of Havana.  
Beatriz has collaborated with artists like Philip Lassiter, Sly5thAve, Peruchin, and Rodney Barreto, and has performed at major festivals in Colombia such as Barranquijazz, Pasto Jazz, and Cali Jazz. In 2024, they released their debut EP Momentos, further establishing their unique sound.

Taïs Reganelli has never belonged to just one place in the world. Born and raised in Switzerland, she moved to Brazil and then to Italy, and now lives in Portugal.
A singer-songwriter with a velvety voice, she has authored four albums and launched three singles.
She has received many prizes in festivals and was nominated twice for “Revelation Singer” and “Best Album” in the “Brazilian Music Awards”. She has toured all over Brazil, Latin America, Central America, and some European countries.

Taïs Reganelli is Brazilian, born and raised in Switzerland until she was 9 years old. In 1999, she lived in Italy for almost two years and has been living in Portugal since the end of 2017.

Singer-songwriter, praised by Caetano Veloso and Jô Soares during his talk show, Taïs has a consistent authorial work, with four albums recorded. She also released two singles and videoclips in 2019. As a special guest, she sang on dozens of albums.
During her career, she won numerous awards in music festivals and was nominated twice for "Singer Revelation" and "Best Album" at the Brazilian Music Awards.

She opened concerts for Toninho Horta, Toquinho, Ivan Lins, Guilherme Arantes, Leila Pinheiro, and Maria Gadú. She also participated in several projects and music festivals.
In addition to her career as a singer and songwriter, Taïs shows versatility in theater and cinema. She recorded soundtracks for plays and short films and toured a good portion of Brazil, as well as Latin America, Central America, and Europe.

In 2019, Taïs took part in the course How to Write Songs by Adriana Calcanhotto at Coimbra University. Then, she joined the postgraduate course The Art of Writing at Lisbon University. Recently, she completed a workshop on composition by Luísa Sobral.

In 2020, she launched Como Um Último Beijo (Like a Last Kiss), which has more than 280k listeners, and in 2021, she presented Medo (Fear), featuring Pedro Luís.
In August of 2023, she's invited to represent Brazil at the G20 convention, in Varanasi, India, among other interpreters from 29 countries.
In October of 2023, she was invited to sing at the Angojazz Festival, in Luanda, Angola.

Voor de kleintjes, iets minder kleintjes, en iedereen die jong van hart is! Beleef de magische wereld van C. Saint-Saëns' Carnaval der Dieren, een sprankelende voorstelling met muziek, gespeeld door het pianoduo Carol Ruiz en Pepijn van Vilsteren.

De pianisten, Claudia en Carlos, nemen je mee op een vrolijke muzikale reis waarin kinderen actief worden betrokken. Een fantastische manier om op een speelse en ontspannen manier kennis te maken met klassieke muziek!

Dit stuk, geschreven 134 jaar geleden door de Franse componist Saint-Saëns, was oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor zijn vrienden en hemzelf, gewoon omdat hij dat leuk vond!  
Elk deel van het muziekstuk verbeeldt een dier.  
Tijdens dit concert spelen Carol Ruiz en Pepijn van Vilsteren de prachtige versie voor vier handen op één piano.

Samen met de Munganga Team zorgen zij voor een onvergetelijke middag vol plezier en muziek!

The pianists, Claudia and Carlos, take you on a joyful musical journey in which children are actively involved. A fantastic way to be introduced to classical music in a playful and relaxed way!

This piece, written 134 years ago by French composer Saint-Saëns, was originally intended for his friends and himself, just because he liked it!  
Each part of the musical piece depicts an animal.  
At this concert, Carol Ruiz and Pepijn van Vilsteren will play the beautiful version for four hands on one piano.

Together with the Munganga Team, they will ensure an unforgettable afternoon of fun and music!

Maak kennis met Patricio Wang, Winanda van Vliet en Renato Freyggang, die vanaf de jaren zeventig samen optrekken in de in Den Haag opgerichte groep Amankay. Bijna vijtig jaar muzikale samenwerking, van optredens op solidariteitsmanifestaties toen, via een recente tournee in Chili, tot een in em concert nu.

Luister ademloos naar hoe hij, Patricio, in de jaren zeventig Chili moest ontvluchten, omdat hem het componeren en spelen van zijn muziek door het generaalsbewind onmogelijk werd gemaakt. Hoe zijn vlucht naar Nederland zal leiden tot een versmelten van de muziek van twee continenten. Hoe zijn leven verrijkt is door de muziek, door de studie bij Louis  
Andriessen, maar ook door de talloze ontmoetingen met inspirerende muzikanten.  
In Nederland, maar ook ver daarbuiten.

Hoor van haar, Winanda, hoe zij met muziek werd grootgebracht, koos voor de folksong en tijdens haar muziekstudie de Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek ontdekte, ook die van Patricio.  
Muziek die zij tot op de dag van vandaag met passie en perfectie is blijven vertolken.

Leef mee met Renato, als hij vertelt over hoe hij zijn eerste stappen op het muzikale pad  
zette, en met Patricio vol overtuiging ging samenwerken in de groep Barroco Andino. Hij heeft met zijn virtuose spel vele jonge mensen in Chili geïnspireerd. Ook Renato vertrok uit Chili en wist zich welkom in Nederland.

Geniet van een virtuoos en afwisselend programma waarin deze rasmuzikanten hun levensloop illustreren en omlijsten met muziek die ze zoal in de loop der jaren hebben uitgevoerd. Muziek die een grote rol heeft gespeeld in hun levens en ook invloed hee gehad op vele anderen in de tijd van de grote sociale en muzikale omwentelingen van de jaren zeventig.

Dit alles in een veelkleurig mozaïek. Van volksmuziek uit Latijns-Amerika, Violeta Parra, Víctor Jara, Chileense en Zuid-Amerikaanse strijdliederen tot Beatles en Simon & Garfunkel, eigen composities en zelfs een paar noten Louis Andriessen.

Na afloop van dit programma zal de in september 2023 verschenen twee-talige (Nederlands en Spaans) publicatie ‘Muziek in Ballingschap / Musica en Exilio’ van Patricio Wang te koop zijn. Hierin wordt zijn muzikale levensverhaal - 50 jaar na de staatsgreep in Chili - nog eens in vogelvlucht beschreven en omlijst met vele illustraties.

This special event will celebrate Orixá Oxalá, an ancient force of nature. Through the priestesses, Oxalá praises the prophecy:

✨ The world will one day know one hundred years of peace, under the rule of children. ✨

During the event, you will have the opportunity to:  
● Ask questions about Brazilian Candomblé and engage directly with elders.  
● Experience a traditional drumming and chanting ceremony.  
●Enjoy a music concert.  
● Share in food and community.

This gathering is inspired by the Festa do Divino, a one-month-long ceremony found in Candomblé Houses and Maroon Communities across Brazil.  
It is a participatory way to create coexistence, build community, and reconnect with ancestry and diaspora.

The event will be hosted by Tulipa's Society, a Society that honors Zahar—a Vungira in the Brazilian Candomblé tradition.  
It is inspired by Sociedade das Tulipas, a sisterhood based at Redandá Candomblé House in Cipó-Guaçu, São Paulo, which has been organizing beneficent events for hospitals treating Wildfire disease and other causes since 1970.

Teatro Munganga is the theater hall of Munganga: a multidisciplinary forum for artists and art lovers. This monumental building – the former horse tram depot on the Schinkelhavenstraat – is located a few meters from the entrance to the Vondelpark, on the Amstelveenseweg.
