The Hardcore Research Centre is a showcase for experimental rave music made in Amsterdam. The first edition brings a varied program full of fast-paced rhythms, high-energy sounds and chaotic noise. Line-up: - Doukus (live) - Cartopol (DJ) - Opus Occvltiis (DJ) - more TBA Doukus (live): Hardcore experimentalist Doukus presents a brand new live set based on his upcoming album Doukus Hardcore Research Centre 01. His music is highly intense and radically playful, combining a rough DIY aesthetic with meticulously animated sounds. Drawing inspiration from video game soundtracks and experimental electronics, Doukus weaves a variety of atmospheres and characters into brain-scrambling dance music that explores the full range of the hardcore spectrum. Cartopol (DJ): Cartopol is an Amsterdam-based composer, producer and DJ from Lima, Perú. He likes to explore the grey area between club music and everything else, having developed his style through years of work composing music for theatre and dance performances, in which he fuses together influences from contemporary music and underground experimental practices. Together with Opus Occvltiis he runs Anekumena Tapes, a label dedicated to exploring the thin line between club and non-club music. Opus Occvltiis (DJ): Opus Occvltiis is the moniker under which Polish-Canadian composer and producer Philip Przybyło makes and performs noisy industrial techno. Drawing inspiration from metal, post-punk and contemporary classical music, the project is characterised by droning textures, abrasive noise walls and machine-like metallic beats. Opus Occvltiis is also the co-founder and curator of experimental Amsterdam based label Anekumena Tapes with fellow producer and CvA alumnus Cartopol. More TBA The first installment of The Hardcore Research Centre is part of the Composers’ Festival 2024, the graduation platform of the Conservatory of Amsterdam’s composition department.
