The twelfth installment of Lost Groove hits home. A number that, in the spiritual realms, stands for wholeness and transformation, something this crew has been representing with their series over and over again. From classic house lineups to more trippy electro-house nights, from soulful spheres to more techno-oriented ones; rediscovery seems to be what drives them. This time, they host a fresh lineup with Doka newcomers that lean a bit more into UK bass- and garage-oriented sounds, breakbeats, and jungle. Hailing from Japan and China are bass pioneer Stones Taro, 90s house gem specialist Mengzy, and bass head Lomax. They fly in under the wings of music multidisciplinarian Yuto Takei, a DJ and producer who has made a name in our city’s nightlife over the last few years, and rightfully so! Noizar’s sound goes far beyond conventional house or techno, always offering sleek twists throughout his sets. The Ukrainian-born, Amsterdam-based DJ has developed a rare instinct for picking up on minimal house and techno that doesn’t often make it to the surface. A digger at heart who shines a light, through both his label and his sets, on a spectrum of electronic music that refreshes ears and stirs hearts. His style doesn’t fit into an obvious category but taps into an oh-so-familiar feeling through unfamiliar tracks: stomping, eerie, and haunting, right into the funnel of a night. Together with the Doka-affiliated Combined Type, we’re in for cuts that move deep, are stripped to the essence, and built for impact.
