Start your weekend in style at Vincent on Friday, the unique event that invites you to experience the Van Gogh Museum like never before. Expect an evening packed with live music, performances, tours, workshops, DJ performances, and plenty more.

At this edition of Vincent on Friday, turn your back on the dark winter days and embrace spring! This evening is the ideal time to visit our new exhibition and discover the striking parallels between the life and work Vincent van Gogh and Matthew Wong (1984-2019).

In addition to viewing the exquisite works in the exhibition, you can also enjoy live performances, or take time for yourself with a mindfulness session or Mental Health Walk. This is an evening to find yourself and drive off the winter blues.

Start your weekend in style with Vincent on Friday, the event where you can experience the museum in a new way. Expect an evening full of live music, performances, DJs and more, inspired by themes from the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. This evening’s programme was co-curated by Elmer and AMPFEMININE.

This evening revolves around the role of women in art and culture. Instead of being muses, models or myths, women are taking control and telling their own stories.

The inspiration for this Vincent on Friday is Jo van Gogh-Bonger, the woman who made Vincent van Gogh famous. Jo was the wife of Vincent’s brother Theo. Without her, the Van Gogh Museum might not have existed.

Line-up:
- Elmer: She (or he, whichever you prefer) combines her love for hip-hop with the provocative rawness, disarming honesty and the colourful world of comic books. Expect danceable tracks with electro-funk and Italo-disco, inspired by Peaches, Mr. Oizo and De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig.

- Mariposa: The Colombian-Italian Mariposa, who grew up in Amsterdam, brings an innovative Latin rap sound. She belongs to a new generation of musicians who push and blur the boundaries between cultures, genres and languages.

- Kleine Kova: Kleine Kova is part of the VHS collective from Antwerp and is the permanent sidekick of the legendary Kleine Crack. Solo she makes devilish rap that would be the ideal soundtrack for a medieval torture chamber.

- Talk: Jo Bonger, and how stories are created: With Catelijne Blok and Lisa Smit. In this talk, Catelijne Blok and Lisa Smit delve deeper into the life of Jo Bonger, and they also discuss the role of women in the art world then and now. Where are we still in need of improvement, and how do we look at the future? The talk will be moderated by Ebru Aydin. You are very welcome to join the discussion on this topic!

- AMPFEMININE: AMPFEMININE is a five-member DJ collective from Rotterdam, which wants to give female and non-binary DJs and producers a bigger stage. They organise parties, produce radio shows, give masterclasses, and produced the documentary EQ the Industry.

- EQ the Industry (documentary): EQ the Industry is a documentary by AMPFEMININE about female and non-binary producers from Rotterdam, directed by Loes Korten. She focuses on capturing personal stories and finding universal themes. Korten collaborates with various creators and has previously produced several documentaries, fictional films and music videos.

- Mitzi (live): Mitzi Beesemer is a performance, sound and installation artist based in Rotterdam and Maastricht. Themes such as loneliness, feeling overwhelmed, identity and dissociation play a major role in her work. Through the manipulation of sound, she searches for a place that feels intangible.
