House of Vineyard is opening its doors of The Living Room this summer! This special XL edition is all about Performance, Power & Play. Mother Amber Vineyard put together a 3-day program, welcoming both The Living Room students and newcomers who want to get acquainted with Ballroom culture. During this second day, various workshops will take place at Melkweg, given by Amber Vineyard and the performers of Pearl Dive, among others. Program day 2 - various workshops at Melkweg 19:00 - 20:00 Ballroom 101: An Introduction to Performance by Legendary Mother Amber Vineyard Mother Amber Vineyard introduces the history of ballroom culture and guides you through the basics of performance with an emphasis on Sex Siren and confidently mastering the runway with both feminine and masculine energies. 20:00 - 20:45 Body 101: An introduction to the Body category by Michelle ‘Owens’ Tshibola (Paris) Michelle introduces their approach to the Body category, the connection between body and mind and the power of selling. 20:45 - 21:30 Sensuality 101: An introduction to sensuality by Thea Carla Schøtt (Denmark) The intention of this workshop is to discover your own sensuality and power both on and off the dance floor. 21:30 - 22:30 Twerk sensual by Foxxy Roxxy (UK) These are not just dance classes, they are about feeling more comfortable in your own skin and embracing your unique beauty! Foxxy Roxxy creates a safe space where you can relax, express yourself and discover the power within. Specialising in Twerk, heels and pole dancing, Roxanne's style is a unique blend of sensuality and power. Music will be provided by DJ INBLVCKWETRUST. About The Living Room The Living Room is a home for all Houses, founded in 2015 by Mother Amber Vineyard, where queer, trans and gender non-conforming young people can feel accepted, valued and empowered. A nurturing environment for the Dutch Ballroom scene, a learning place where the queer community can feel at home, but also find social support, develop their individual talents and get the tools they need to navigate the world with resilience. NOTE These workshops are Open to all genders and identities. It is important to know that our Ball community takes a firm stance AGAINST racism, transphobia, sexism, queerphobia, ageism, ableism, body shaming, classism or any form of discrimination. We stand for equality, inclusivity, creativity, participation, learning, creating new experiences and above all, LOVE. Some may know about Vogue through Madonna, but the Ballroom Scene was created by and for African-American and Latinx LBGTQ+ communities, notably trans women and gay men, in Harlem, New York. All visitors/participants/guests will respect and celebrate the Ballroom culture and its roots. If you are not from this community - as a white and/or straight ally - know that you are welcome. We only ask you to be mindful of the space you take up and to respect the participants and their space.
