Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest & Hind Ennaira

Thursday, Mar 7 · 7:30 PM · 8:45 PM

About

With her captivating voice and string playing, Hind Ennaira gives new energy to the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra. Hind Ennaira is from Essaouira, birthplace of the gnawa, the Afro-Moroccan desert blues. At a young age she already dedicated herself to the genre that at first seemed only accessible for men. Currently she is leading the gnawa scene as a singer and player of the string instrument guembri. The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra explores musical forms from Granada to Baghdad, from various eras and in various styles. From the rich Arabo Andalus repertory, which originated on the Iberian peninsula, to mystical Eastern music, sophisticated Arabic improvised music and folk music from the Maghreb. The orchestra was founded by musicians from Amsterdam and Morocco. Throughout the years, it has collaborated with artists from all kinds of genres, from Arabic to jazz and flamenco. Hind Ennaira vocals/guembri, Hamza Amrani rabab/ud, Dwight Breinburg violin/percussion/vocals, Mohamed al Mokhlis violin/bouzouki, Daniel van Huffelen double bass, Ahmed Khaili percussion, Salah Eddine Mesbah percussion/vocals Hind Ennaira | Hamza Amrani | Dwight Breinburg | Mohamed al Mokhlis | Daniel van Huffelen | Ahmed Khaili | Salah Eddine Mesbah
