RVG stands for Romy Vager Group, an acronym that’s not hard to figure out considering it’s based on the name of the songwriter and frontwoman of the group. Their jangling and poppy alternative rock is lush and wild, blending elements of post-punk, goth and 80’s college rock. With this project, Vager found a meticulous balance between tuneful and sophisticated songcraft, and the loose spontaneity of punk and garage. They released three albums so far, which gained them praiseful commentary worldwide. Rolling Stoned called RVG “Easily one of the most vital bands on the Aussie scene today”. Their latest record, Brain Worm, was released in the early summer of 2023. All throughout Brain Worms, it’s apparent that this is a band in very fine form, it’s a shiny, thrilling, punch of an album, with Vager’s voice unfiltered and commanding as ever when delivering her clever, not-quite-ironic lyrics.
