The course ends with a graduation show where you’ll perform your first 5 minutes stand-up set in front of a real audience.
No experience needed — just a willingness to try and have fun.
Taught in English, open to anyone who wants to explore stand-up comedy in a supportive environment.

Tiff Stevenson

**TJ** is a standup comedian who has made appearances on Gotham Comedy Live on AXS TV and on Good Day New York on FOX. He is based in New York City but was born and raised in Haiti. TJ has a very laid back, smooth, and conversational style and he jokes about race, society’s idiosyncrasies, and the inherent contrast between life in Haiti and America. Some people say his humor is smart and eye-opening; he would probably agree with these people.

TJ performs regularly at some of the best clubs in New York, including the world famous Comedy Cellar, Gotham Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, and Eastville Comedy Club. He can also be seen at the best alternative shows in the the city. He's been a featured performer at SF Sketchfest in San Francisco, the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival. He's also performed at the Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta, the Underground Festival in Washington D.C and was one of the 8 finalists in the Boston Comedy Festival in 2016. He's also an Op-Ed contributor for The New York Times

TJ wants to tell jokes for a long time and be great at it. Because he really cares about that. And he wants you to come along for the journey.

I've got a terrible feeling about this show. Like somehow the whole thing is doomed. I have this recurring dream where I'm on stage, thousands of miles from home and the crowd has turned on me. There are thousands of them and they are all booing me and Sofia Vergara (from Modern Family) is there and so is Simon Cowell and he’s slamming his fist into a red buzzer and the sound splits the air like a gunshot and the ceiling rips open and confetti rains down like debris but the booing only gets louder and louder and louder and louder and then I wake up, and realise that all of that actually happened to me.

This show has nothing to do with that story. I doubt I'll even mention it.

Reuben Solo

Comedian, musician, and all-around legend Dave is returning to Comedy Club Haug! From Edinburgh Fringe to SXSW (and even a Mexican prison or two), he’s performed his razor-sharp comedy worldwide. You might also know his music—his band Valley Lodge’s song Go is the theme for HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Oh, and did we mention? He’s also played guitar for glam rock legends Slade and toured with Jack Black. A night of killer jokes, unexpected riffs, and pure rock ‘n’ roll energy—don’t miss it!

**Dave** performs live comedy over the world and has appeared at such festivals as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, SXSW, San Francisco Sketchfest, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Sasquatch Festival, Bumbershoot, Bonnaroo, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, the Crap Comedy Festival in Oslo, Outside Lands in San Francisco, and then some other ones too. He has also performed comedy at Sing Sing Correctional Facility twice and even ripped some guitar solos inside a Mexican prison a couple times too. In 2007, Variety magazine named Dave one of their **“10 Comedians to Watch,”** something he still won’t shut up about. Some things are hard to let go of.

He is also a **musician** who currently sings and plays guitar in the power pop band Valley Lodge, whose song “Go” is the theme song to HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and the psych/garage rock band Painted Doll. He was also a member of Cleveland rock bands Sons of Elvis and Cobra Verde as well as Diamondsnake, a heavy metal band with Moby. Additionally, Dave has played guitar for Walter Schreifels and muscle metal band Thor and bass for Lucy Wainwright Roche and former Faith No More singer Chuck Mosley. He also contributed musical scores to films such as Dirty Deeds, Shoot First and Pray You Live, and then some other ones besides those two.

After sell out shows across Australia, America and Europe in 2024 with the ‘Yeah Nah’ Tour, **Monty Franklin** returns in 2025 with a brand new show, ‘**Is That Your Mate**’. Coming to over 70 cities in the USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia in his biggest tour yet.

**Monty Franklin** is an Australian born stand-up comedian and actor based in Los Angeles. He has toured over 40 states of the US, performing to over 1 million Americans. Monty also tours with **Rob Schneider, Joe Rogan and John Cleese**.

Monty’s online videos pointing out the ‘perils’ of being an Australian living in America have massed over
**1 billion views**. Monty was on Ep #1794 of **The Joe Rogan Experience** and is currently appearing in
‘**Real Rob**’ on NETFLIX, seasons 1 & 2. He has had roles on ‘**New Girl**’ - FOX, ‘**Becoming Bond**’ - Hulu.

Monty performs in Los Angeles as a regular at the **The Improv Comedy Clubs**, **The Laugh Factory** and he was the first Australian to have their name added to the wall of the **The Comedy Store** in Hollywood.

Comedy Club Haug is the first stand-up comedy stage in Rotterdam. We have 7 to 13 shows weekly spread over three rooms. The club is situated in Rotterdam at the Maas river. You are welcome for performances by the best national and international stand-up talent and promising newcomers.

Our regular program offers, amongst other shows:

Open Mic in English: On Thursdays you can enjoy new English talent, combined with brand new try-out material from established names in our Corner Room
Open Mic: On Wednesday there is the Open-Mic for Dutch talent, combined with brand new try-out material from established names.
Is this Anything?: Is a try-out night for our regular club comedians and friends.
Best Of Stand-Up: The name says it all. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday we have a line-up with top comedians in our 'Main Room'. This is truly the cream of the crop. A varying program where our own greats are complemented by big names from the Netherlands and abroad.

In addition, we also offer solo and double programs of comedians from all over the world. In the past we have had such greats as Louis CK, Tony Woods, Todd Barry, Maria Bamford, Fern Brady, Daniël Arends, Ronald Goedemondt, Peter Pannekoek, Hans Teeuwen, Patrick Laureij, Najib Amhali and Theo Maassen. Comedians at Comedy Club Haug are selected for charisma and authenticity. A level of honesty about who they really are as individuals. Authenticity as a comedian is the most important factor here. Only those who stand out from the mainstream are given a stage to develop further at Comedy Club Haug. On our comedians page you can see an overview of who can be seen on our stages regularly.

The owners Marcel Haug and Debbie van Polanen are known as the producers and founders of, among others: The Stand-Up Club and the ICFR. At Men at Work TV Productions, Marcel Haug produced the programs including: The Comedy Factory, Raymann is Laat and Comedy Club Katendrecht.
