“You can dance, if you want to,” is a sentence we feel deeply connects to Kennedy’s core of playing music. A non-forceful approach, but it damn well moves you if you allow it. The digging history of this Amsterdam vinyl-head runs deep. With over 20 years in the pipeline, exploring his love for the roots of house and techno in its widest sense, it’s a present to have him back in our booth again. He possesses the craft to let his fingers browse through records from the outer spectrums of electronics, and can tie them together like they were always meant to meet. “Music sounds better with you” feels like an understatement when he’s on the ones and twos. Joining him is Vasco, a record collector who’s not bound to any specific genre, something that speaks for both of them. Vasco plays music that sits within the soulful, but is always laced with a kind of toughness. A knack for the sweet and soft, fast and percussive, the tough and obscure.

The twelfth installment of Lost Groove hits home. A number that, in the spiritual realms, stands for wholeness and transformation, something this crew has been representing with their series over and over again. From classic house lineups to more trippy electro-house nights, from soulful spheres to more techno-oriented ones; rediscovery seems to be what drives them. This time, they host a fresh lineup with Doka newcomers that lean a bit more into UK bass- and garage-oriented sounds, breakbeats, and jungle. Hailing from Japan and China are bass pioneer Stones Taro, 90s house gem specialist Mengzy, and bass head Lomax. They fly in under the wings of music multidisciplinarian Yuto Takei, a DJ and producer who has made a name in our city’s nightlife over the last few years, and rightfully so! Noizar’s sound goes far beyond conventional house or techno, always offering sleek twists throughout his sets. The Ukrainian-born, Amsterdam-based DJ has developed a rare instinct for picking up on minimal house and techno that doesn’t often make it to the surface. A digger at heart who shines a light, through both his label and his sets, on a spectrum of electronic music that refreshes ears and stirs hearts. Apron-don Steven Julien comes over to trigger your inner jackin’ house-child. In an old interview with Patta, the London DJ once said something about his label’s aesthetic that stuck with us: “We avoid formulas. We grab tasteful aesthetics from everywhere and everything!” Sounds about right, and also feels like the perfect metaphor for the way he plays, in which you’ll probably notice references that point back to the roots of hip-hop, house and techno all together. Lightness goes hand in hand with intensity, the old does with the new, it all doesn’t really matter. All we can say is that once you pick up on it, you’ll stay locked, that’s a promise from our side. Hand-in-hand also goes the combo with Lil Lawaw on the other end of the wheel. A jack-of-all-trades well-schooled in where it all comes from, but serves his records with fun, a smile and a bit of cheek. Combine that with his skills to push his musical likings in ways that surprise yours, and you’ve got a night that might be right up your alley. Even if you don’t know it yet.

This night we celebrate the release of KOLORA’s ambient album ‘Out There’. KOLORA is a collaboration between Liloe Barend en Koenraad Wiering. These two former neighbors found common ground in creating ambient soundscapes during the pandemic. For the release party, they will perform a live version of the album along with some additional songs they have composed for the live show.

Expect an evening filled with harmonious guitar melodies and dreamy keyboard tunes. With a special light installation accompanied for the live performance, their music will take you on a trip beyond the clouds ☁️
