Main act - Nadja:

Nadja is het duo van Aidan Baker en Leah Buckareff, actief sinds 2005. Hun muziek wordt omschreven als ambient doom, dreamsludge of metalgaze, een kenmerkend geluid dat de atmosferische texturen van shoegaze, ambient en elektronische muziek combineert met het volume en de intensiteit van metal, noise en industriële klanken. Met elektrische gitaren en een drumcomputer creëert het duo gelaagde, dichte composities waarin melodie en noise naast elkaar bestaan. De muziek vraagt om volledige aandacht en dompelt de luisteraar onder in een meeslepende, sonische wereld. Whilst the name 'A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers' refers to multiple different artworks, including the song by Vandergraaf Generator of the same name and the Robert Eggers 2019 film, the Haarlem based metal band has developed a style that is equally disturbing and consoling. Using Sludge, Post and Doom-Metal as well as jazz and spiritual music as a vehicle for free artistic, political and personal expression, the quintet just finished their first run of shows throughout the Netherlands, collaborating with various musicians along the way. 

Musically, the Lighthouse Keepers sound like a disturbed lovechild between OM, Sumac, Swans, Miles Davis and Pandit Pran Naath. They combine lengthy improvisations with ear shattering explosions of intensity. Lyrically, their songs deal mostly with death, personal struggle, religion and political philosophy, using their desperate shrieks, earsplitting cymbals, noisy guitar palette and thumbing repetitive bass patterns to create a dialectical counterpoint to contemporary pop culture. It's the punk rock of a failed generation, drowning in anger and filth yet too tired to organize a revolution. Still, The Lighthouse Keepers also manage to find small moments of undeniable beauty and fragility as to perhaps spark a glimmer of hope in a world torn by pandemics, war and oppression.

Now Ex is the musical pseudonym for East London alt pop artist Nick Hampson. Known alongside Now Ex for his filmmaking, this is cinematic pop that was built for the silver screen, and makes the listener the protagonist. It’s captivating, layered pop music that’s as much emo as it is orchestral, as much optimistic as it is bleak and defeated. Originally coming up in the Royal Opera as a child soloist, Nick’s voice is tinged with classical character, whilst remaining discernibly contemporary, inviting comparisons to artists such as London Grammar, Sam Smith and Jeff Buckley.
