For this special occasion they are offering a first time darkroom listening experience, where you will be fully submerged in the sonic vibration of the UNBORN universe. UNBORN is an intimate theatrical concert blending ambient neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop and indigenous rhythms. Inspired by the infinite in-between of transformation, UNBORN invites you to travel through the inner universe of OTION. Surrounded by emotions like confusion, melancholy and joy, UNBORN creates a moment of reflection and motivates you to kick off your own personal process of transformation. As an interdisciplinary artist, his mission is to imagine spaces, rituals, and ceremonies for the contemporary urban environment where others can be moved by the power of sound and reconnect with themselves. His work reflects on the human experience using water, waterbodies, water states and water motion as a source of inspiration, making ‘OTION’ (pronounced ocean) a reference to the element that connects us all. It was an immediate yes for me, from the urgency and poetic excellence to a delivery that makes her performance a unique experience. A voice that reminds me of late-night inner-city jazz bars and deep conversations. A voice moving in a cadence that feels like slow dancing on the edge of any topic she brings to the forefront. This Amsterdam-born & bred is active as a spoken word poet, voice actor, host and workshop coach. She’s also co-founder & producer of the cultural platform We the People Amsterdam and online spoken word production 2PHRASE. We are excited for her to bless our OTION and All These Voices stage.” BIO A creative spirit, born as Sydney Lowell, with her rhythmic poetry tells stories that move. Sometimes critical, sometimes sensual, sometimes introverted, sometimes extra – always soulful. The Amsterdam born & bred is active as a spoken word poet, voice actor, host and workshop coach. She’s also co-founder & producer of cultural platform We The People Amsterdam and online spoken word production 2PHRASE. Sydney Lowell made her recording debut in April last year with the release of her single ‘Prayer’, soon followed by her second single titled ‘Testament’. Poems that, just like her other work, are loaded with intention, spirit and emotion. Her debut EP ‘WORD’, released last October, is a testament to the transformative power of language and the dynamic role it plays in personal growth and expression. The power of words to conjure spells, shape beliefs, and define our paths. For the manifestation of the spirit, for connection, and as a call to love and introspection, Sydney Lowell is a poet out of necessity. She sees her poetry not only as a reflection of herself, but also as an extension; an extension that allows her to operate as a messenger. Wasim Arslan OTION: “Once upon a sunny day, I was invited to join “The Elements” for a performance on the BLIJ BURG beach. One of the leading vocalists Wasim Arslan shifted my universe for the length of a song. His voice and presence that radiates ancient royalty always takes me to a deep appreciation of the power of the voice. He is a true community leader / ceremonial space holder, and his generosity reaches far beyond the richness of his tone. Sitting across from him in a ceremony inside MAHARA’s Yurt, I wished for the opportunity to one day invite him to the OTION & All These Voices Stage**.** Finally, the day has come.” BIO Atmospheric electronic soundscapes accompanied by rich and breath-taking vocals will bring you into a transcendental state. The smooth but compelling arabic rhythms alongside melodics give the sensation of a brutal force of energy, slowly being released while powerfully piercing through.. Growing up in Aleppo, Syria, he drank from the waters of the Arabic art, music and culture. After the war in Syria broke out, he travelled from the East to the West. On this journey passion called… His voice is the fire with a heartbeat powerful enough to spread life to the darkness. Building the bridge through culture to travel back home every breath contributes to create a journey beyond time and material. Together on an infinite journey to the source. Tasha’s World OTION: “Love at first sight, Love at first sound. From the generation of Dutch Hip Hop and neo-soul pioneers, I was introduced to Tasha’s World during a recording of a live session in Rotterdam in 2021. Discovering her history in the music industry and her dedication to educate, protect and support the next generation of artists, I wanted to know more about her wealth of experience. Many adventures, deep conversations, jam sessions, joyful sing-a-long concerts and residencies from Zeeland to Cape Town followed. She is a big supporter of the growth and well-being of others and we at OTION & All These Voices are happy to support her step back into “The Game” after a long hiatus with beautiful new music. We are ready!” BIO Tasha’s World is the stage name of Rotterdam recording artist Tasha Slagtand. Tasha’s World has released three successful albums, winning various awards, including the Essent Award, the Silver Harp, and an EMMA Award (UK). Tasha toured the world with her band, performing at venues such as the world-famous Jazz Café in London and S.O.B’s in New York, as well as Ahoy Rotterdam during Vrienden van Amstel Live, the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague, and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Cape Town. In 2008, Tasha took a break from her career as an artist. During this period, she was asked to become a board member for the foundation Your World (Rotterdam European Youth Capital 2009). In this board role, she advised the city council on music projects for Rotterdam’s youth. Two years later, she became head of talent development for the Rotterdam venue de Nieuwe Oogst. The project, called Harvest Me, provided young Rotterdam musical talents with the tools they needed to professionalize. Almost all the talents from Harvest Me at that time have developed into successful artists. Additionally, as the artistic director of the creative space ‘Yourspace,’ she was responsible for programming and developing inspiring programs for young creatives. Last year, the very first album of Tasha’s World turned 21 years old. To celebrate this, a new musical project from her will be released in 2024. Adwoa Bobo OTION: “At the very first edition of OTION & All These Voices at bar36black at Rembrandtplein, I was confronted with a last-minute cancelation and an open slot. Jokingly I asked the audience if there’s anybody who would like to sing a song. Adwoa jumped at the opportunity, grabbed a guitar that was on stage and stole everybody’s heart with the song “Mannetje In Mij”. We were lucky to have them perform several times and my 10th edition celebration wouldn’t be complete without the storytelling and wonderful blend of pop, folk, soul and R&B that is uniquely Adwoa Bobo. Landing gently and soulfully on our stage all the way from London. We are so excited to reconnect.” BIO Adwoa Bobo is a London based artist from Amsterdam who’s work is a pop blend of folk, soul and R&B music. Their writing is centred around personal experiences and their views on life, celebrating the beauty of straying from the norm. Adwoa Bobo tells stories which will give you food for thought – as well as allow you to embrace your humanity in all its simple ways. OTION & The Submarines ft Ina Seidou OTION: “OTION & The Submarines kicked off in 2023 at the Opera Forward Festival, where I was joined by Nathan Klumperbeek on bass and Tez Thompson on guitar. For OTION & All These Voices I’ve invited Ina Seidou to join us for a memorable opening performance. Ina has a powerful voice that moves your body into dance and my soul into ecstasy. Her stage presence is inviting and disarming. After touring the world with repertoire from Michael Jackson (UK) and Tina Turner (AUS) she’s now diving into her own story and sound, and we love to be on this journey with her. Let this 2nd time on the All These Voices stage be one of many new steps toward her unique and authentic sound supported by the waves created by the Submarines and myself.
