The Völva’s Live Déjà Vu

Each week The Grey Space serves a different menu by our very own chef Julio Salsiccia or by invited guest chefs and food initiatives or restaurants. DJs are invited to provide a musical outline on Thursdays.

Wednesday, 13 October
On Wednesday’s menu is a delicious mezze plate by Puck’s Pan.

We’ll have mezze with humus, cannellini bean dip with aioli, eggplant in harissa tomato sauce, red cabbage salad and cauliflower served with a pita.

Both a vegetarian and a vegan version are available.

Thursday Dinner Session, 14 October
The Guest chef of this Thursday Dinner Session is Donny who’ll prepare an elaborate Indonesian ‘rijsttafel’.

On your table will be oesih made from tempeh, tomato lalab, nasi kuning, tahoe goreng, atjar, emping and sereoendeng. And of course spekkoek for dessert.

Pastimes (https://www.instagram.com/saschapeterss/?hl=en) will be behind the decks, to complete the Dinner Session experience.

A quick but delicious vegan meal on Friday and Saturday.

Two Bánh Mì bao buns with lemongrass sriracha tofu or pulled jack fruit, cilantro maggi vegan mayo and pickled daikon and carrot, served with a noodle salad and chips.

De laat-kapitalistische mens probeert te overleven in een systeem dat haar glans heeft verloren, ondertussen is er geen zicht op een alternatief. Alles moet weg, maar ten gunste van wat? De performatieve installatie is doorlopend te bezoeken.

Podium De Nieuwe Kamer presents recurring jazz and improvised music programs with local musicians at The Grey Space.

Today you can experience an afternoon concert by two piano trio’s: Miguel Rodriguez Trio and Francesca Tandoi Trio.

Originally from Madrid Miguel Rodriguez is now one of the frontrunners of the Dutch jazz scene. His playing can be described as virtuosic, innovative and extremely swinging.

The Grey Space participates in Museumnacht Den Haag in which the city’s cultural institutions open their doors during the night. The Grey Space presents try-outs of works by artist-in-residence Karel van Laere and dancer and choreographer Eleni Ploumi (in collaboration with DansBrabant). DJ Nèna will close the evening.

Program:
Performance artist Karel van Laere is an artist in residence at The Grey Space. From September until November 2021 he works on his project _Reach_. Van Laere’s work takes place at the intersection of live performance and visual art. His own body is the starting point in every artistic process. A recurring theme in his work is the antagonism between the human body and technological systems.

The starting point of this three month residency is his fascination with laparoscopic instruments (robotic tools used for surgery). This try out takes the shape of a performance in which the instruments are transformed to human bodies.

In her work Eleni Ploumi is always looking for the dialogue between the body and the space and how that space fuels processes in the body. It is this intense experience that she shares with an audience.

Under the motto _Killing Time_, Eleni is working on a research project in which she examines physical limitations and how to break through them. Accompanied by her wooden bench, she travels along various cellars and vaults. Together with the audience she dives into a physical, energetic experience.

Another week, another dinner session. Join us for an inspiring evening carefully balancing delicious food and pleasant tunes.

Inspired by artist Gordon Matta-Clark’s restaurant FOOD, which existed in the 1970s in New York, The Grey Space invites people to come and cook affordable meals as an artistic and social expression during our weekly Dinner Sessions. DJs will guide the evening musically and make you dance after dinner.

This Sunday’s Dinner Session features visual artist Mattia Papp, who has served edible artworks at The Grey Space before, and Scene 1997, a moniker belonging to Hilde Wollenstein, who is responsible for the tunes during the evening.

Menu

Mattia cooks a three-course menu, starting with an umami mushroom broth with smoked root vegetables, lemon gel, and garlic onion ash. As a main, he serves roasted cauliflower with black lime powder and candied nuts, and for dessert, he prepares a lavender cream.

default den haag closes off their fall program with a varied program focussing on the performative.

The line-up contains performances by Dutch clarinet player and composer Germaine Sijstermans, whose music finds interest in working with open scores, the ephemeral and the sensitive experiences of spaces. Spanish sound artist and composer Clara de Asís works draws from an interest in experimental intonation and timbral research. Lastly Londen based, Chinese artist Zheng Hao will present a solo-set of creative live electronics, next to a duo-performance with Wojciech Kacper Werkowicz, who both seem to find each other in their shared sound-interest, in between the abstract and airy.
