IJZAAL PDZ, OP LOCATIE, Piet Heinkade 179, 1019 HC Amsterdam, Netherlands
As the Dutch parliament has fallen, it is time to put forward a petition for a general pardon of migrants and refugees who have been seeking asylum in the Netherlands. After the Second World War the Netherlands had very lenient migration policies due to the need for labour migrants because of labour shortages in certain industries. Ever since the 1990’s, with the increasing neoliberalisation of the Dutch state, the Dutch migration policies have become more strict over time. We are now at a point in time where asylum seekers who get rejected are living without rights in the Netherlands, sometimes for decades long. As the Dutch parliament has fallen, this is the time to push for a general pardon to make sure the people who are living without rights and the ‘right’ documents in the Netherlands will get their status. During this programme we will talk together with the Afrikaanse Vluchtelingen Collectief, politicians and grassroots organisations on how to make sure we can create momentum together towards the actions and demonstration on September 15th 2023. -- (Text and image) https://dezwijger.nl/programma/time-for-a-general-pardon
