On the 9th of December Hamburger Community residents Viana Afoumou (vixnde), Maja Simišić and NDNMK Solutions come together with mentor-artist Geo Wyex to show us ‘What’s Inside the ATM?’.

A rotational presentation by four artists working with sound and poetry, responding to a series of prompts on value, identity, memory, time and indeterminacy.
The ATM - what could it mean? A Tired Melody - Archive That Matters - All The Money - Alter The Mission-  they will share their research as a riff on the well-known urban cash-point, reimagined as a portal to a density of waves, a gravity of lived experience, beyond measure.

"What's Inside the ATM?" is part of Roodkapje’s Hamburger Community residency program. A 10-month interdisciplinary art laboratory for collaborative practice, collective fun and direct interaction between artists and audience. The trajectory’s main focus is playfulness and creating together. Residents of the Hamburger Community inhabit a shared studio workspace to which they have 24/7 access and follow a program of guidance and mentorships. This event also serves as Loveth's special year-end finale, wrapping up a tour across the Netherlands for Popronde earlier this Autumn.

About Loveth
Rotterdam based Cameroonian producer, and songwriter Loveth Besamoh effortlessly navigates and blends genres to create his versatile brand of psych music. Music that transcends cultures and continents to express the inner workings of the producer. Loveth is supported in his live performances by an eclectic live band.

About Chypko
Born in the Andes, Flor began crafting melodies when she first laid hands on a guitar during her early years. As time unfolded, so did her musical journey, taking her to distant corners of the world.

Since 2018, she has been an integral part of the Rotterdam-based dreamgaze band Bed, as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and co-writer. Together, they unveiled their debut album, "Wet." Concurrently, Flor ventured into a collaborative project, releasing the album "Isle of Ga" with the band Whooom in the same year.

While inherently a singer-songwriter, Chypko sometimes sheds the cocoon to embrace a more expansive psychedelic dreampop sound with a full band. With her sweet yet dark ethereal sound, Chypko envelops listeners in a hug of captivating musical landscapes.

About L'orne
L’orne are storytellers, tearjerkers and lovers. This gloomy slowcore posse challenges conventional norms as they endeavor to create the most somber and unhurried music imaginable. Through their exploration of focused sounds and textural silences, they weave a sonic tapestry capturing the essence of introspective melancholia.

With Murphy’s Circus, Brian Murphy wants to recapitulate the ‘circus’ of art he grew up in. Artists and musicians of different disciplines will provide the guests with an evening filled with the beauty of creative human expression. Whether it be distraction, entertainment or inspiration you’re looking for, Murphy’s Circus will do its best to deliver the goods.

Not only will there be class musicians joining together onstage, but we’re also changing the space into an overall creative circus:
- Step into Tovertrutten's makeup stand, where they'll work their artistic magic to create a masterpiece on your face like no other (fun fact: you might recognize one of the Tovertrutten from the Burgertrut restaurant!)

Radio Trapani
RADIO TRAPANI (NL/ITA) makes indie-pop, groovy beats with a hint of jazz melancholia. It is the alter ego of Dario Trapani, Amsterdam-based producer, guitarist and songwriter with a background in jazz and countless hours spent on Ableton. His songs are a processed blend of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Frank Ocean, Mac DeMarco and Dirty Projectors.

Dreams, mystique and melancholy are returning thematics within Leah Rye’s music. Her dream pop often has a dark edge and balances on the fine line between avant-garde and radio friendly. However, her crystal clear voice rises above all the electronic violence.

The singer/songwriter from Amsterdam joined the popronde in 2021, played a line of solo performances in London and had two sold-out shows at Bitterzoet, in honor of her Elusive EP. Her debut is set to be released in October, on which she collaborated with the neoclassical composer Lucas van Kesteren, and singer/pianist Ruben Hein.

A windows-down car ride through the desert. Graceful surfers shredding blue swells. A suburban road lit only by streetlamps. The big round sun, shimmering over a distant horizon. These are just a few of the images conjured by Brothertiger. He moves through his chillwave roots and into the refined glitz of sophisti-pop, a UK-born microgenre that owes its ’80s and ’90s heyday to key releases by groups like Prefab Sprout and Scritti Politti. Brothertiger’s take on the style is pure escapism — immaculately engineered, retro-leaning songs for romantic vagabonds and urbane daydreamers alike.

John Jagos, the creative force behind Brothertiger, boasts an impressive discography, including four full-length albums under this alias. And that’s not even taking into account his multiple EPs, a cover album dedicated to Tears for Fears, or his prolific four-volume series of livestreamed improvisations titled Fundamentals. This industrious artist consistently churns out finely tuned earworms that are as delightful as a serene sundown on a perfect summer evening.

Hailing from Amsterdam, The Covids epitomize punk in its truest form: swift, intense, and incredibly contagious. The band emerged during the initial lockdown in the Netherlands amidst the pandemic, boldly adopting the name "The Covids." Their fusion of '77 punk and modern pop music creates a seamless blend, yielding songs that are impossible to resist: catchy, unfiltered, and full of energy. Picture a youthful, enthusiastic iteration of The Buzzcocks, effortlessly commanding the stage with infectious melodies, robust rhythms, and razor-sharp guitars.

"Birth of Death" marked the name of the joint farewell tour for Birth of Joy and Death Alley, concluding with a sold-out performance at Paradiso in 2019. Surprisingly, the end of these two bands paved the way for something new just a few months later – the birth of the supergroup Splinter. The band's rock 'n roll is not just danceable; it's downright provocative and rebellious. Picture a group of seasoned Dutch troublemakers skillfully playing a Hammond organ and a couple of guitars. With lyrics in Dutch, they have a knack for getting even the most composed Dutch individual to dance and let out a few choice words.

Fuelled by an obsession for obscure, groovy, and fuzzed-out tunes from the '60s and '70s, Supersonic Blues delivers greasy jams that draw inspiration from the likes of the Hendrix Experience, Blue Cheer, MC5, and Cream, all with a touch of funk and soul. The heavy guitars emanate a wonderfully raw and vintage sound, rich in fuzz and funk, complete with a psychedelic twist. Their recordings transport listeners back to a sunny day on a sandy field in the late '60s, envisioning a fantastic rock band playing on stage while psychedelic vibes are just within reach.

Antwerp's Meltheads is composed of four young musicians brimming with energy and determination. Fueled by fast, sharp guitar riffs and a rock-solid rhythm section, the band unleashes their blend of infectious garage rock, edgy post-punk, and captivating coldwave. Think of bands like Amyl and the Sniffers, Gang of Four, and Wire for reference.

These hungry young’uns take the stage as if it were their last performance ever. Meltheads have previously opened for bands such as DIRK and Millionaire. They even reached the finals in Studio Brussel's De Nieuwe Lichting competition and secured the second place in Humo's Rock Rally. With a handful of singles in their repertoire, these Belgians are set to storm Rotterdam for a night of high-energy music.

Tonight Johnny Dowd (Ithaca NY) will present his new record “Is Heaven Real (how would I know)” in Rotterdam. Johnny is an alt-country legend that shocked the music scene with his 1997 debut "Wrong side of Memphis".
Don’t expect anything you ever heard before. Johnny brings country to the future.
The New York Times highlighted him as one of the few "Country Singers Who Still Display a Country Heart".

Mark Lotterman (Rotterdam) is a songwriter that didn’t perform on stage for 6 six years.
Tonight he returns with “Stedentrip”, a brand new album about urban life in the 21st century.
This joint show with his friends Johnny and Harry will be the official release concert of this new record.

Harry Merry sounds like Harry Merry, and no one else sounds like Harry Merry. This Rotterdam based musician has been touring Europe and the USA extensively for over 20 years.
Ariel Pink covered Merry’s “Stevie Storm” and HollandDoc aired a documentary about Harry on national tv.
A live show by this genius musician may confuse you, but it will definitely put a big smile on your face.

The London four-piece Folly Group creates stubborn and pointy post-punk with edges as sharp as a razorblade. Their high-energy, high-tempo but lo-fi tracks pound forward relentlessly as a 48-hour-long rave, as frantic and ecstatic as being awake for all that time, with boxy hooks and absurdist lyrics woven seamlessly together.

Despite having released a few singles and EPs, the anticipation for their debut album is palpable. Especially their first single Fashionista is still considered a big hit, and a delicious beginning to their oeuvre. Be warned, much like their music, their live performances are equally dynamic and energetic. It's bound to be an exhilarating experience.
