Kneading dough is tricky – you should know how it’s supposed to feel. If you try too hard you could make it worse. It’s a beautiful practice – creation with a gentle touch, to work at something so it can be left alone. “If it’s too drawn out it’s awful. It’s easy to give too much.” Dance in the mirror. Contemplate your veiny hands. Who do they remind you of?

You begin by mixing flour and water. “What happens when your people die? Why’d they move the rock to the other side of Ulster Park?” Eliza Niemi asks two seemingly unrelated questions in a rising melody with guitar accompaniment, like fingers playing spider up to the nape of your neck. Gentle pressure. Strands of gluten form to bind the mix. A new question lingers in the binding. When she admits “but I don’t know how to tell if I’m feeling it or not,” that question surfaces through the text. It is reiterated throughout the album. When I’m working with dough I think the same thing to myself.

On Progress Bakery, her second album as a solo artist, [Eliza Niemi](https://www.instagram.com/eliza.niemi/) knows to leave some questions alone – to let juxtaposition and tension be the proof. It doesn’t have to be hard. The feelings and revelations they provoke rise in the heat. The smell is sweet. Crispy on the outside and soft all the way through. She playfully slip-slides through words and sounds and images, delighting in surprise, skimming ideas like stones cast across clear water, touching down briefly with uncommon grace.

The question provoked between those opening lines resurfaces in the strands between songs – “Do U FM” is fully formed and beautifully layered, while “Novelist Sad Face” is a short, acapella rendering of gentle curiosity. What is holding these ideas together? Some songs demand more, seem to carry a whole load - eventually the skipping stone will halt to sink and resume its idle duty – while others drift in and out of focus, the way thoughts and dreams become interwoven before the mind is sunk into true sleep. Music and words don’t always have to interact. Where she decides to keep them apart gives a new contour to where and how she puts them together. The kind of thing you’re supposed to take for granted with songs and their singers comes alive in Eliza’s hands – the little miracle of mixing, kneading, stretching, and stopping.

So often on Progress Bakery, Eliza teases out truth and meaning by asking questions. “Do I wanna be crying?” “Do you want me good or do you want me bad?” “Do I need an eye test?” “I’m writing songs in my head while you’re going over stuff with me — is that cruel??” In “Pocky” Eliza ends with a question

that feels to me like the actual biography, succinct and revealing:
I don’t wanna be made to see
I just wanna ask “what’s that?”

Grace that ought to be rare, but in its care and precision is offered humbly, with great generosity, and without announcing itself. Eliza’s simple, miraculous music is given further form and shape by a group of collaborators – invaluable guest musicians Jeremy Ray, Evan Cartwright, Steven McPhail, Kenny Boothby, Ed Squires, Carolina Chauffe, Dorothea Paas, Louie Short, and Avalon Tassonyi. Together with Louie Short, who recorded, mixed, and produced the album along with Jeremy Ray and Lukas Cheung, Eliza has cultivated a richness in sound and texture that prods and provokes the ticklish ear. Barely audible guitar tinkering, a brief lo-fi field recording of trumpets, the harmonic clicking of a looped synthesizer, a flourish of reeds, a child’s conversation, each uncanny sound perfectly placed, rippling out under a soft breeze.

Lay in bed alone at night and ask aloud to the stillness,
“What were you doing at the Albuquerque Airport?
What were you doing there??”

And hear your question answered by a dream of swelling, undulating cellos. Try to grasp at the melody and structure. It’s not an answer (if there could be one), but it moves deeper, closer to the weird layer of fleeting moments and disconnected images, barely perceptible at its core. Wait for the dream reel to click into place.

It’s time to get ready, time to get riled up, time to Go Hard! **We got just the thing for you on May 25: Arse and Robbie Thunder. A double trouble Australian bill.**

**ARSE**
ARSE is a punk band built for the times. The Sydney trio’s genre-blasting tunes nail the modern condition in a way that's universal yet undeniably Australian all at once, as evidenced on Kaputt, the band’s most unhinged offering to date.

In 16 minutes of raw power, Kaputt skewers everything from climate denialism to crooked law enforcement. “Shame Bomb” channels Diesel and Dust-era Midnight Oil with a protest song about the destruction of Australia’s dead heart. Elsewhere, “Night Shift Blues” sounds as if Flipper slapped the Stooges. Then there’s the title track; equally indebted to classic ’80s hardcore and the scorching psychedelia of Tropical Fuck Storm and King Gizzard. *Somehow, it all manages to sound like pure ARSE.*

The eccentric mash-up has put ARSE on bills with Aussie punk royalty Amyl and The Sniffers, Cosmic Psychos, Hard Ons, These New South Whales and Civic. It’s also further proof that Grupo Records, co-founded with drum/sax powerhouse Party Dozen, is one of the most exciting indie labels in Australia.

Ramones were once called the smartest dumb band of all time. In which case, Newcastle based power-pop heartthrob Robbie Thunder is probably the second or third smartest dumb band (or artist) of all time. Rock n roll to ruin any nice occasion.

Welcome to [deBasement](https://www.instagram.com/debasement.now/) – born from the afterhours parties of Montreal and New Orleans, deBasement is comprised of Alli Logout, iconic vocalist of the critically acclaimed punk outfit Special Interest, and Margo XS, an esteemed DJ and highly in-demand producer who collaborates with pop stars such as Zara Larsson and Kim Petras, and underground darlings like Ayesha Erotica and Mowalola.

Blasting onto the scene with their double single debut “FRONT LEFT SPEAKER / FTDJ (Thank God)” via In Real Life [Peggy Gou, Erika DeCasier, Luna Li, MethMath] in August, deBasement has already captivated listeners with their futuristic production, punk confrontation and undeniable vocal hooks. Deeply inspired by and uplifting their FLINTA community, deBasement is rewriting the rules of LA’s DIY queer rave scene with their explosive live sets, and has already supported acts like Model/Actriz, Hannah Diamond, and Marie Davidson (who will feature on their debut EP outFeruary 2025). With just a few releases under their belt, the duo’s unique blend of dance punk and modern ghettotech has already caught the attention of Pitchfork, AG Cook’s Wandcamp Media, Our Culture Mag, Matt Wilkinson on Apple 1, Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 1, and more. In a landscape saturated with predictable dance music, deBasement is injecting a much-needed dose of raunchy, raw authenticity – and its only just the beginning.

**Plastic Persoon**
Since we are all simultaneously yelling how unique we are, I decided to rename myself [Plastic Persoon](https://www.instagram.com/plasticpersoon). An Avant Gabber act consisting of Sob (45ACIDBABIES, FFOOSS) and Juna (Imhotel, Gita Buhari). Both brutally loud and relatable to people who want change. Kicking against the status quo every minute of every day is exhausting. Plastic Persoon is a coping mechanism.

**Aidan**
[AIDAN](https://www.instagram.com/sn0rl4xx_/) is the solo-project of British-Dutch singer, songwriter en multimedia artist Aidan Smit. Dark, infectious electropop, combined with a perfectionist aesthetic through creative visuals, symbolism, fashion design, choreography and performance art are absolute musts for the brain of their consumer.

AIDAN wants to captivate their audience in their own reality and carry them through their wildest fantasies. AIDAN’s work is described as “genre-bending”, based on different genres, including IDM, Hyperpop, industrial HipHop, melodic house and avant-garde. AIDAN is fascinated by absurd as well as extraordinary subjects: gender identity, social hierarchy, sexuality, drug abuse.

Their projects are intertwined with personal struggles, and he hopes to bring these to life in a conceptual way. At the moment AIDAN is working on their debut EP, their martial arts techniques and world domination.

**VJ ZZeevonkk
**[ZZEEVONKK](https://www.instagram.com/sjoerdvkampen/) is the multidisciplinary project of music producer and programmer Emery van Kampen.
Having grown up with the dawn of the internet, they've taught themselves to code, design, make video games and create visuals with open-source software. Over time they've learned to put their non-binary energy into the binary. Using a camera and sound, they combine it with ASCII, glitch art and emoji aesthetics to create a storm of colours and moving pictures that fit perfectly with the resurgence of Y2k-aesthetics, while still feeling fresh. 

**About Pretty//Ugly**
Pretty//Ugly is an individual organizer and volunteer active in the DIY scene and hosts shows at OCCII – Amsterdam and Roodkapje – Rotterdam. Their goal is to facilitate artists who step out of the “doe maar normaal, dan doe je al gek genoeg” attitude and burst open the narrow framework on what a show is and can be. The impetus is to dance, mosh, move around with our fellow goblins, elves, rats, snails, dogs and cats

deBasement, Plastic Persoon, Aidan [Pretty Ugly]

**Derozan, Luke Cohlen & mangruv**
Derozan and Luke Cohlen join forces for a second time, inviting Mangruv as an instrumentalist into their DJ set. The two connect through a multi-deck, non-linear mixing style that is characterized through constant surprise and improvisation. Flowing between disjointed, rhythmic dance tracks and minimalist, texture-driven music, they play sounds situated in cultures and zeitgeists alike, as heard through their platforms Global Dance Suspense and aural conduct, respectively. This time, they are joined by none other than rhythmic wizard Alek, aka Mangruv—a virtuosic drummer, audio engineer, and producer who runs Studio Scarlab. Mangruv has performed in various impromptu, raw outfits such as Warlock and performs live with his electronic side in the experimental club scene. The last (and first) time Derozan and Luke did this, they had Andy from The Ex on guitar—so expect a whole new left turn when a percussionist comes into play.

**Ruin Klarity**
Cypher (aka Ruin Klarity) is a trans non-binary cabaret artist, activist, certified massage therapist, and movement practitioner. Trained in classical ballet at the Rudra Béjart Ballet School, they performed as a soloist with The Baltic Dance Theater before shifting their focus to transformation practices, particularly Butoh, which they have studied since 2014. Now based in Paris, they explore movement as a form of embodied resistance and evolution, performing while integrating methodologies such as Body-Mind Centering, Continuum, and somatic bodywork. Their performance art is most commonly found in cabarets, galleries, and club spaces like the former De School Amsterdam and Griessmuehle Berlin.

**Hannah Endrulat**
Hannah Endrulat is a singer and dj living in berlin. She explores her interest in late romanticism, opera and Kunstlied in her hybrid sets, providing a bandwidth of volume and vulnerability.

**Lisanne Tijssen**
Lisanne Tijssen is a, mostly, visual artist residing in Utrecht, NL. her work focuses om the remediation of the mythical semiotic structures enclosed within the subliminal of the seemingly mundane. for this event she will look into the interpunction of common everyday space and the interaction of truth and beauty within framing.

**Cheb Runner**
Producer[ Cheb Runner](https://www.chebrunner.world/) (real name: Reda Senhaji) is a musical hurricane rooted in Moroccan soil and exploring multiple musical landscapes. Cheb Runner represents a new sound of inbetweenness, nurtured by different worlds while running back & forth in time. Using first hand sound and recordings of his own sample bank based on traditional instruments, Cheb Runner playfully mixes analog with digital effects supported by a unique collection of synthesizers. 
Cheb Runner started his musical career flirting with different aliases, collectives and genres. As producer, composer and DJ, he is merging traditional and contemporary electronic music together, moving from Moroccan chaabi over spiritual sounds to eclectic disco, deep techno and Dutch gabber. 
Cheb Runner is resident at Ghana's Oroko Radio and a familiar face at Brussels finest Kiosk Radio. He  is also part of the (A)WAKE collective (Rotterdam) and recently joined the Brussels based Not Your Techno family.

Guided by instinct, she crafts a seamless fusion of past and present sounds. Expect an unpredictable yet fluid journey through rhythms and eras, keeping the dancefloor engaged and moving.

**Ayoun**

[Ayoun](https://www.instagram.com/_ayoun/) is known for his electrifying Jersey flips and rhythmic mixes. With a ear for blending House, Bass, Riddim, and Club tunes. My sets are flexible to fit the event, and I can push the BPMs into Footwork and Ghetto House when the energy is right. I’m also a fan of Dembow and Arabic music, which I occasionally weave into my mixes and edits when it fits the vibe.

**Q.A.Q & Pala G.**
Since their collaboration began in 2023, rapper Q.A.Q and producer Pala.G have been delivering an electrifying mix of powerful lyrics and rich, immersive beats. Drawing from their Palestinian and Moluccan heritage, their music is a compelling mix of resistance and introspection. Q.A.Q’s thought-provoking verses flow seamlessly with Pala.G’s genre-blending and textured productions, ranging from raw, gritty beats to grand, orchestral arrangements. Projects like Onotani (2024) and their upcoming album “Sous les Pavés, la Plage!” pushes boundaries while inspiring both personal reflection and collective liberation.

**ZINEB**
The very first time ZINEB came in contact with music was at Moroccan weddings, family gatherings and celebrations. As a little kid, she watched her family dancing to Chaabi and Reggada. She heard the women in her family singing Izran and playing Derbouka. These experiences instilled in her a deep love and appreciation for Moroccan music, which naturally expanded into an interest in North African and West Asian music, often referred to as Arab music.
Today, Zineb mixes a spicy blend of North African and West Asian rhythms, Deep House, Raï, and Amapiano. As a Dutch-born DJ with Amazigh heritage, she brings cultural influences to her music, crafting a unique sound that captivates. Her journey has been about celebrating her roots while exploring new musical territories.

**Spicy Dokha b2b UGE93**
Spicy Dokha & UGE93 weave bass, jazz-kissed rhythms, and lush synths into a sound both intricate and immersive. Deep breaks, rich textures, and heavy sound design push and pull—between restraint and release, tension and resolution. A set that lingers, pulses, and unfolds in the spaces between.

How can we live and work together with more than human collaborators?

Since starting the project in the summer of 2023, he has performed in venues across France and the UK. Self-releasing a couple of singles and an EP he has received support from people such as Tom Ravenscroft at BBC Radio 6.

**Die Verlierer**
[Die Verlierer](http://www.dieverlierer.de/)’s second celebration of sound, their new album Notausgang (emergency exit), is an enrapturing manufactured approach to the nostalgic turns known to few as 70’s punk n roll, now released on Mangel Records. With shades of both American and German influence, Die Verlierer are lyrically exploring riotous and somber notions of both public concerns and private endeavours. The unified sonic realm does its job accordingly, with a thick determined timbre of bass, sharp guitars and rolling drums –Die Verlierer create a sound as clear as a broken glass. Through the course of 14 rich tracks, the band will take you on a journey between the busy cross roads of early- and post punk, mixing fast beats and slow&heavy melodies.

**Desinteresse**
[Desinteresse](https://www.instagram.com/desintresses/) is a Dutch coldwave band consisting of Bart (bass), Joppe (drums) and Sem (vocals/synth/guitar). The band comes from the southern province Limburg and was officially formed in November 2022. The band started out as a duo, but has been functioning as a three piece since 2024. Their latest release is the 7” single ‘Grijze Dromen’ (August 2024). All releases up until now have been released on their own label ‘DECADENCE’. Their aim is to recreate the sound from a past era, using only analog equipment, seeing this as a form of art, identity and expression. Cold, abandoned and non-existential feelings mark the melancholic and gloomy atmosphere on stage. Still sounds and voices are not primary - though the message is.

Three acts will show the intersections of these two fields. The evening will be opened with the results of the **Graphic Notation Workshop** that took place earlier that day.*

**Happy Fuji News** is a surrealistic dive into the world of apps, geology, tourism, love and more, done in a joyously performed proto-cinematic way. It is a live-edited "movie" made out of 201 woodcuts, written, carved and printed by **[Eric Kinny](http://santeloisirs.com/erickinnyhfn)** over the course of 2016 - 2022. Prints are shown and thrown at the rhythm of an audio soundtrack with MIDI guitar music by Raphaël Desmarets and characters voices by McCloud Zicmuse, Siet Phorae, Molly Rex, Ma Clément, Alice Perez & Joey Wright, for a total length of 30min. The story follows the unlikely story of a touristic guide on the foothills of Mt Fuji in Japan, trying to make sense of life after facing harsh Tripadvisor reviews of the mountain.


**interstellar** is a temporary shared practice collectively brought to life by video artist **[Video Boy](https://www.instagram.com/video_fuel_boy/)**, illustrator **[Jacco Jansen](https://www.jaccojansen.nl/)** and musician **Pietro Frigato**. It spawns from their desire to tell stories together and to appropriate abandoned non-spaces by turning them into places of belonging and self-expression. Together, 
interstellar tells stories of entangled pasts, presents, and futures—stories that are of desire, hope, and love. It embeds and unfolds these stories into the crevices left behind and unseen. There is hope, and it blossoms in unexpected places; there is resistance, and it sprouts in the cracks. There is belonging and togetherness, and it is here and now — not in the future, nor in the past, not in the big and shiny halls. The beings interacting in this suspended space/time capsule, stirring together a cauldron of different media —a mix of obsolete and advanced technologies — celebrate the mere act of collective crafting as a sacred practice.

**[DRW](https://draw-it-with-others.org/)** is a lightweight web app where participants can contribute quick and gestural drawings transformed into vector graphics for live coding performances. DRW, accessible from smartphones, empowers audiences to directly influence the visuals in real-time. This system has been utilized in live concerts, where audience members' responses to the music in the form of drawings become part of the visual experience. DRW is in active development by **[Kamo](https://kamomomomomomo.org/)** and **[Chae](https://chae0.org/)**. It will be accompanied musically by **Logosamphia**! The alter ego of Iranian/Dutch audio artist **Sadra Hemati** who has released more than 15 albums on various international labels. He is a frequently booked artist at home and abroad. His live sets are energetic, chaotic and contain homemade instruments, questionable samples and various pieces of fruit with which he makes music.
