Bij FADOpelos2 draait alles om muziek die raakt.  
In de zomer van 2020 wonnen ze de zangwedstrijd ‘We Want More’ van SBS6, waar ze de jury diep ontroerden met hun krachtige performance. Deze triomf leidde hen naar een nationale tv-show in Portugal, waar ze een onvergetelijk duet ten gehore brachten met de legendarische Mariza.

Na hun eerdere EP's, 'Bairro Alto' (2019) en 'Sei de um Rio' (2020), is het tijd voor iets nieuws. Hun nieuwste album, 'Viver e Viver', dat in december 2023 werd uitgebracht, bevat maar liefst 11 zelfgeschreven nummers die je uitnodigen om te dromen.

Laat je meevoeren door de betoverende straten van Lissabon en geniet van de magische samensmelting van zang en gitaar. Ervaar de passie van FADOpelos2 en laat je hart veroveren!

Door de geschiedenis heen zijn er veel stukken (van klassieke componisten) die een kerstsfeer uitdrukken.  
Namen zoals Bach, Händel, Liszt, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn en minder bekend zoals Kirkpatrick, Mohr, Byrom, Britten, Ives staan op de lijst voor kerstliedjes, plus andere traditionele stukken van onbekenden componisten.  
Op de een of andere manier zijn sommige kerstmelodieën meer "folk" dan we denken.  
Naast de kerststukken (klassiek of traditioneel) brengt dit concert ook de improvisatie en Braziliaanse-jazzinvloeden van pianiste Elizabeth Fadel.  
Het publiek kan deelnemen en zingen.

ELIZABETH FADEL  
Braziliaanse pianiste Elizabeth Fadel heeft een carrière in Brazilië doorlopen met uitvoeringen van recitals met klassieke en Braziliaanse populaire muziek, als solist of met orkesten.  
In haar studie had ze het privilege om te spelen met Olga Kiun, Evgeny Izotov, Henriqueta Garcez Duarte en Anna Yarovaia.  
Ze speelde twee jaar piano, klavecimbel en orgel met het orkest Camerata Antiqua de Curitiba. In Brazilië werkte Elizabeth ook drie jaar als docente en pianiste aan het Conservatorium van Braziliaanse Muziek in Curitiba, onder andere met Braziliaanse populaire muziek.  
In 2007 heeft ze een tour gedaan met de beroemde klarinettist Paulo Moura. Voordat ze naar Europa verhuisde, lanceerde ze het album "Divertimento" met Daniel Migliavacca, en kreeg geweldige recensies.  
In 2010 verhuisde ze naar Den Haag om klavecimbel aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te studeren, onder leiding van Jacques Ogg. Momenteel speelt ze piano op de choro school EPM Holanda in Rotterdam. In 2014 lanceerde ze als componist en percussionist de cd van choro "Saideira". In de jaren in Nederland speelde ze samen met veel bands, koren, musici, ze oogst veel lof.  
Haar nieuwe recente project is de groep Banda Fulô, waarin zij als pianist, cavaquinista en componist optreedt. De groep is gespecialiseerd in Braziliaanse jazz.

Throughout history, many pieces (by classical composers) express a Christmas spirit.

ELIZABETH FADEL  
Brazilian pianist Elizabeth Fadel has pursued a career in Brazil performing recitals of classical and Brazilian popular music, as a soloist or with orchestras.  
In her studies, she had the privilege of playing with Olga Kiun, Evgeny Izotov, Henriqueta Garcez Duarte and Anna Yarovaia.  
She played piano, harpsichord and organ for two years with the orchestra Camerata Antiqua de Curitiba. In Brazil, Elizabeth also worked for three years as a teacher and pianist at the Conservatory of Brazilian Music in Curitiba, including Brazilian popular music.  
In 2007, she toured with renowned clarinetist Paulo Moura. Before moving to Europe, she launched the album ‘Divertimento’ with Daniel Migliavacca, and received great reviews.  
In 2010, she moved to The Hague to study harpsichord at the Royal Conservatoire, under the direction of Jacques Ogg. She currently plays piano at the choro school EPM Holanda in Rotterdam. Een theatraal concert over jezelf zijn, vallen, en lekker blijven liggen.
Als papa valt kan dat grappig, verdrietig of eng zijn.
Het ligt maar net aan hoe hij neerkomt.
Valt hij op zijn kont of op zijn hoofd? Valt hij van hoog of glijdt hij uit over een bananenschil? Moet hij huilen of moet hij lachen? Help je papa overeind of redt hij zichzelf? 

Twee ijzersterke jazzmuzikanten onderzoeken hun zachte kant, en delen die met jonge ogen.

De muziek
De dag dat papa viel combineert melodieuze, intieme en funky klanken, waarbij zelf gecomponeerde en geïmproviseerde muzikale momenten elkaar afwisselen. Er is een breed scala aan inspiratiebronnen gebruikt, van jazz tot meer expressieve eigentijdse geluiden.

Wieger Meulenbroek is de regisseur van In de Wijk 2024. Hij is afgelopen jaar afgestudeerd als regisseur van de Toneelacademie in Maastricht en volgde in 2023 de Jeunesse-Oorkaan-Academy. Hij maakt voorstellingen over worstelende wezens, tragikomisch balancerend op de rand van hoop en wanhoop. Absurdisme en humor verlichten de pijn van het mens-zijn, waardoor je geraakt en vermaakt de zaal verlaat. Naast zijn studie als theaterregisseur is hij autodidact multi-instrumentalist en componist.

Matteo Paggi is een veelzijdige trombonist wiens talent grenzen overstijgt. Sinds 2022 siert hij de podia van Europa als onderdeel van ‘The Fearless Five’ naast jazzlegende Enrico Rava. Op de Nederlandse televisie is hij te zien en te horen in ‘Even tot Hier’. In projecten als ‘WORDS’ en ‘Matteo Paggi and the Giraffes’ verlegt hij muzikale grenzen en laat hij genres moeiteloos samenvloeien. Met wortels in symfonische en operaorkesten streeft Matteo naar innovatie en artistieke uitmuntendheid, waarbij hij het publiek over alle continenten boeit met zijn betoverende melodieën.

Aviv Noam is een saxofonist (alt, bariton, sopraan) en een multi-instrumentalist (bas-klarinet, fluit). Aviv werkt als freelance muzikant, componist en saxofoon-/muziekleraar en heeft zijn master afgerond aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Aviv werkt op een breed scala aan muziekgebieden, van vrij geïmproviseerde en avant-garde jazzprojecten tot funk, hiphop, pop en brassbandmuziek. Zijn voornaamste focus als artistiek personage ligt echter in de muzikale werelden van avant-garde en moderne jazz. Aviv is winnaar van o.a. de Dutch Jazz Competition en Keep an Eye International Jazz Award. Met het Aviv Noam Quartet was hij te horen op het North Sea Jazz Festival, Amersfoort Jazz Festival, Oranjewoud Festivals, én in het Bimhuis, TivoliVredenburg en Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ.

Marieke Horst is vorig jaar afgestudeerd als kostuum- en decorontwerper aan de Toneelacademie in Maastricht. Voor de ontwerpen van ‘de dag dat papa viel’, heeft ze zich laten inspireren door Paul Klee. Hij maakte handpoppen voor de verjaardagen van zijn zoon. De impulsieve vormen van de poppen spreken haar aan. Ze hebben iets woests vertelt ze, als een kindertekening die tot leven is gekomen.

De braziliaanse dwarsfluit van Floor Polder in Brisa Carioca
Floor heeft een grondige beheersing van de Braziliaanse muzikale taal en weet hoe zij zich daarin kan uitdrukken, zowel in eigen composities als in de geïmproviseerde muziek tijdens haar optredens. Haar klank en frasering zijn mooi en hebben een persoonlijke signatuur. Haar vertrouwdheid met de Braziliaanse muziek en haar vaardigheid met het instrument doen denken aan een andere buitenlandse instrumentalist die ook een sterke aanwezigheid in Brazilië heeft: de Franse violist Nicolas Krassik.

Brisa Carioca is een eerbetoon aan de stad Rio de Janeiro waar Floor Polder, dwarsfluitiste en componist 5 jaar heeft gewoond.  
Daar werd ze diep ondergedompeld in de dynamische Braziliaanse muziekwereld en raakte geïnspireerd door invloedrijke artiesten als Egberto Gismonti en Joyce Moreno.  
Haar terugkeer naar huis kenmerkt zich door de ontwikkeling van een uniek geluid, een samensmelting van Braziliaanse en jazz invloeden en haar eigen creatieve visie.  
Brisa Carioca staat voor de warme bries die door de straten waait in Rio de Janeiro, het is een show die je de energie van de stad laat voelen!

BIO FLOOR POLDER:  
Geboren in Den Haag, begon de Nederlandse fluitist en zangeres Floor Polder haar muzikale reis op 10-jarige leeftijd. Op haar 15e speelde ze met de VHJO Youth Big Band als leadzangeres, tenorsaxofonist en piccolospeler een tournee in Suriname.  Ze volgde een voorbereidend jaar in Jazz aan de HKU in Utrecht voor dwarsfluit voordat ze Latin Music ging studeren aan Codarts in Rotterdam, waar ze in 2013 afstudeerde.

Floor Polder maakte deel uit van verschillende groepen zoals Banda Fulô, Trio Sodade en Savoy Room, en trad op bij podia en festivals zoals de Doelen, het Bimhuis, Jazz Festival Delft, Breda Jazz Festival, Big Rivers, Summertime Festival, Jazz in de Gracht en het Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam. Ze heeft samengewerkt met artiesten zoals Geraldo Rosales, Ronald Snijders, Lilian Vieira (Zuco 103), Dina Medina en Toy Vieira.

Na een tournee in Brazilië met Trio Sodade, begon Polder aan een masterprogramma aan de Federale Universiteit van Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) van 2019 tot 2022. Daar ontwikkelde ze een methode voor improvisatie in Braziliaanse muziek met elementen van jazz, die ze deelde via een serie van negen video's op YouTube.

In Brazilië nam Floor Polder op met Bebê Kramer, Alberto Rosenblit en Pedro Guniu, en produceerde een duo-album met Rudá Brauns, uitgebracht in juni 2023. Het album heet "Vento Litoral", een betoverende mix van melodieën en ritmes. Haar nieuwe show, "Brisa Carioca", bevat naast haar eigen composities ook werken van grote namen als Egberto Gismonti en Tom Zé. Deze show laat haar veelzijdigheid en diepgaande connectie met zowel Braziliaanse als jazzmuziek zien.

MADÊ is a band specializing in Brazilian music, composed of musicians who mostly met while studying at the conservatory in Rotterdam. In May of this year, they released their
debut album, Paisagem dos Pensamentos, featuring original interpretations of songs by renowned Brazilian composers.
Currently, MADÊ is focusing more on developing their own repertoire.
Their goal is to preserve the essence of the lyrics as purely as possible.
The story in the music always takes center stage, and around it, they carefully craft a unique sound that is entirely their own.
The band members come from different countries and have studied a variety of musical styles and backgrounds.
Each member brings their own musical heritage and influences, contributing to MADÊ’s rich and layered sound.
This fusion of styles and cultures makes their music new and authentic.

An energetic, interactive, humorous act full of amazing African acrobatics, European live music on accordion, dance, humor, emotion and romance! A unique and special collaboration between the Kenyan acrobat Stephen Owino and the Dutch accordionist Fiora Beuger.

Stephen - Nafsia Stephen Owino (stuntman, actor, trainer, clown and acrobat) works for Nafsi Africa Acrobats, a cultural organization in Nairobi, Kenya. Over the past 10 years he has played at many different festivals, in variety shows and circus shows in Europe and Africa. He also gives workshops and acrobatics lessons.

Fiora Beuger is a Dutch musician (accordion, vocals, piano), composer and performer. She plays and composes for theater performances, plays in various bands, works for Circus Zanzara and gives music lessons and workshops. As the accordionist of Amarins & le gatte negre, among others, she traveled a lot through Europe to play at (street) festivals.

Brasileira is the debut album of Gabriela Pimentel. A musical work that has been in her wish box for a long time.
Her music is often autobiographical in the stories and rhythms: samba, baião, capoeira. Gabriela is the first daughter of Júlio and Rose, the parents of Kriya Família, the largest Brazilian family that emigrated to the Netherlands more than two decades ago to bring Brazilian music and culture.

"For quite some time I wanted to record my music to share with everyone. And singing that at Munganga was also part of my dream. Playing in the most artistic and cozy theater house of the beautiful Amsterdam! Great joy with this magical place! There I will stand for the first time with all the boys who accompanied me during the recordings. In the harmony my dear brother-in-law Marijn van der Linden, on strings, all chords and arrangements. My brothers Pedro and Júlio Pimentel on percussion, in the heart of rhythm with their drums, pandeiro, berimbau, zabumba, agogô and chocalhos."

With Brasileira Gabriela wants to make clear where she comes from, her origin. Because that is not immediately noticeable from her appearance. Red hair, light, rosy skin with freckles.

On this afternoon the album will be presented first and then they will play various music from different Brazilian artists who inspired "Gabi" from her childhood until now.

All Brasileira tracks were recorded, mixed and mastered by Wiboud Burkens in his studio Wipe Out Factory in The Hague between late 2022 and early 2023.

Rejan & Chagas Trio is an instrumental music project that originated in the Brazilian Midwest, the heart of Brazil. The trio, formed by guitarist Fabiano Chagas, bassist Bruno Rejan, and drummer Guilherme Santana, presents a unique repertoire of original compositions and modern interpretations of Brazilian music classics. Known for their virtuosic skills and deep understanding of Brazilian musical culture, they blend elements of modern jazz with both contemporary and traditional Brazilian popular music, offering an innovative musical experience through their compositions and improvisations.

This special concert at Teatro Munganga will feature the renowned Dutch pianist Mike del Ferro as a guest artist, adding his unique touch to the trio's vibrant and eclectic sound.

Guitarist Fabiano Chagas has toured Europe and the United States, performing at major jazz festivals and concert venues, as well as conducting workshops and masterclasses. Currently a music professor at the Federal University of Goiás, Chagas is renowned for his musicality and technical excellence on both classical Brazilian guitar and electric guitar.

Bassist Bruno Rejan, recognized as a prodigy at the age of fifteen, is one of the most influential bassists in the Brazilian Midwest. Known for his expertise as an improviser, composer, and arranger, he also serves as a professor of bass at the Federal University of Goiás.

Drummer Guilherme Santana, considered one of Brazil's most skilled percussionists, has recorded hundreds of albums and regularly conducts workshops and masterclasses. Now based in Belgium, Santana is an active presence in the recording industry and collaborates with a wide range of artists.

De pianisten, Claudia en Carlos, nemen je mee op een vrolijke muzikale reis waarin kinderen actief worden betrokken. Een fantastische manier om op een speelse en ontspannen manier kennis te maken met klassieke muziek!

Dit stuk, geschreven 134 jaar geleden door de Franse componist Saint-Saëns, was oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor zijn vrienden en hemzelf, gewoon omdat hij dat leuk vond!  
Elk deel van het muziekstuk verbeeldt een dier.  
Tijdens dit concert spelen Carol Ruiz en Pepijn van Vilsteren de prachtige versie voor vier handen op één piano.

This piece, written 134 years ago by French composer Saint-Saëns, was originally intended for his friends and himself, just because he liked it!  
Each part of the musical piece depicts an animal.  
At this concert, Carol Ruiz and Pepijn van Vilsteren will play the beautiful version for four hands on one piano.
