Unexpected Dresses for Undefined Ceremonies is 15 years old. Originally created for the first performance that the Son of the Taylor created to launch his clothing collection. Over time, this lighthearted ritual began to be shown in theaters and continued to evolve into a multidisciplinary creation laboratory around somatic and textile arts; to end up emancipating itself in favor of the democratization of creative processes; in which ideas develop strategies and agreements, always reinforced by the discourse of the group, cooperation and community. This fact, in addition to the aesthetic experience that we all express, is an artistic experience in itself that UDUC values and offers beyond its singularity. Connecting with the love and expression for and through diverse materials, words, garments, spaces, atmospheres, frictions, food, poetry and the magical manifestation of the body, The Son of the Tailor invites and embraces artists with similar concerns and vibrations to celebrate life, community and art.

On Saturday, November 30, Vrij Paleis will be transformed into a space filled with digital art, analog visuals, interactive light displays, performances and music. Step into the world of the Luman Beings, where the walls become canvases, and the entire building – with its unique architecture, hidden spaces and corners – is illuminated by 20+ artists from varying backgrounds. ‘A wormhole is a hypothetical structure that connects disparate points in spacetime, a theory based on the Einstein field equations. Wormholes are consistent with general relativity, but whether they actually exist is uncertain. The wormholes that Roland, Jagoda and Rogier investigated for this exhibition are very real. For the common house borer (Anobium punctatum), the piece of wood in which it lives is a mecca of abundance. The architecture of the complicated tunneling is mainly determined by his taste. There’s a delicate balance between digging into the parts of wood it likes and avoiding those it can’t digest. And apparently the tastiest parts are just below the surface. The worms feast in search of fulfillment. But carefully, without breaking the surface before the worm reaches maturity. Artistry seems similar to the way of the worms. We are constantly digging in and feasting on our topics, connecting disparate points in our search for fulfillment. But sometimes we wonder whether artisthood really exists. In answering that uncertainty, we occasionally surface, as we do here and now.

Salon is a small collective that creates a temporary, accessible platform for both young and seasoned talent, a true melting pot of experienced artists and fresh newcomers. Our exhibition stands out due to the variety of works displayed together on the walls, allowing them to interact and form connections with one another. We kick off with a festive opening, and during Museum Night, we’ll add extra music to the atmosphere. On Sunday, everyone is invited to reflect and discuss the artwork in a more relaxed setting.
